After a few days hes still limping so I got to the emergency vets,

Cold you not have made an appointment with your normal vet?

Why did you go to the emergency vet if he was limoing but not showing signs if being ill.
It was a Sunday, he was still limping.

... Is small claims court my next step ? I have to hand deliver it as there is no name on the fence across the business, Google maps has no business showing as there. What I want is the £500 I paid.
You can't sue someone if you don't know who they are.
Yes I know that which is why I think its tricky, I know his first name and thats it.

Should really have gone straight to vets to get your dog looked over.

You now need to find all the details of the owner to take them to court. As his accountant should have nothing to do with him paying the bill.
Could also report to the police for having a dog not under control.
Yes I should have gone much sooner, like I said he was passing the first bill from the checkup to his accountant to transfer the money which hasnt materialised.

I took would be querying an emergency vets bill. You could have got a vets appt in working hours on the Monday at normal cost or on the Tuesday.

You say after s few days he was still limping implying no change and therefore it was in fact limping during working hours.

Those who say wouldn't it deserve immediate treatment and talking about A&E.

Well yes if needed but OP chose not to get immediate treatment opting to wait a few days.
He was in pain and it needed to be dealt with, I accept I was naieve and should have got treatment sooner, I feel bad for him I didnt get him looked at sooner, I was in shock, wound didnt look too bad.

So essence of the story is I made the error of not going to the vets much sooner and scuppered any chance of getting reimbursed for the treatment.

I took my small dog to the vet last week because he had an infection, like your dog. I phoned the practice on Monday morning and they saw us later the same day. We were given a course of antibiotics, total cost £95.

I associate emergency veterinary treatment with calling the vet out of hours for urgent, immediate treatment.

PS - whether the other dog's owner is a business or not, it's nothing to do with consumer rights!
Thanks Alderbank, I couldnt really find another relevant location for it.

The chances are the dog is a pet, not a business asset.

You could check the electoral name for his name.

If you have legal cover on your house insurance you could ask them for advice  but other than contacting the dog warden  to see if they can help or going to court there is no  other way to get your bill paid.

Not even the 'Pets & Pet Care' board?

That board seems to be the natural home of dog bites and vet charges complaints!
