Memorygirl, is this the kind of home-made nappy that you're thinking of? There is a downloadable pattern there and some guidelines.

Or check out this site (which is where I found the above one) for some more:

  • Thanks for sharing - it's inspiring!

I have been trying learn to crochet - I have tons of wool, but can only knit. I'd love to crochet a baby blanket for my nephew. I must keep trying!

Thank you Olliebeak - just what I have searching for. The pattern is now printing off my printer and once I have figured out how to thread up my overlocker again I will be such a busy bee with these.

Thank you so much for your help and support - it's easy to be positive when you have such a great support network to draw on.

Vague instructions are as follows :D
Take one piece of fabric approx 45" wide by 60" long, fold longwise to find the centre of the top.Mark with pin.
Take a piece 15-18" square approx and fold in half mark centre with pin.
Sew 'pillow' square to the cover (matching the pins) on 3 sides only leaving the bottom side (opposite the pins) open.
Tada one quillow, perfect for fleece as no hems!
Or if you fancy a patchwork one...

The blanket part folds away into the pillow so perfect for summer as they are cushions and winter to snuggle under..throw one into the car as they fold up small and will not get in the way
