Well done Memorygirl - what a great plan for motivation.

Have you thought about doing an on-line 'blog' where people could follow your progress?

So good to see somebody prepared to 'make things happen' instead of sitting back and waiting for whatever life throws at them.

Just be careful as your pregnancy progresses and don't put yourself and 'wee one' at risk by trying to do too much.

What a super thread...............I've always been one of the 'make do and mend'...............part of upbringing after the war I suppose.
Once upon a time jumble sales were the highlight of my week and what a lovely feeling to come home with arms full of stuff for next to nothing. Now its charity shops..............all my clothes, ornaments, most of my birthday and christmas presents come from them. Second shops are good for picking up bits of furniture..........amazing what a coat of paint can do and the odd stencil and its a wonderful feeling to stand back, have a good look and pat yourself on the back, especially if folk visit and admire your handiwork.
Freecycle is a brilliant site for picking up all sorts as well as getting rid.
I shall watch this thread with interest............always up for new ideas about getting something for nothing................or next to nothing.:T

    DAY 4

Wow guys - I couldn't find the thread just now (started looking on page 6:rolleyes: - finally found it on page one) Wowee - didn't think anyone would be interested in following this - but you guys constantly suprise me with your support.

Been out this morning in my Dads car to collect a circular pedestal pine table and chairs that I was kindly offered on Freecycle. No mean feat dismantling the table and filling every inch of my Dads car when I can hardly get my hands around my bump (having a very pregnant looking day:rotfl: ) The kind couple who gifted me the dining set also threw in the chair pads and a fabulous white ceramic chicken - you know the Ma Boswell one from Bread??. The chair pads I will be recoverring in some patchwork pieces and the chicken - well a perfect place to store all my receipts to help me keep an eye on what I am spending.

Feel a wee bit pooped now - longish drive. So think I will set myself a lying on the bed with the laptop kind of challenge for the afternoon. GOT IT......

GOAL - MEAL PLANNING. Well you are always going on about this being the best way to stretch your pennies.:money:

4th Jan Create a OS / SW meal plan using seasonal (cheap) ingredients for 2008 - maybe changing every month. That way I will know exactly what I need to buy / use and can take advantage of buying BOGOF store cupboard items as they come up. Will be breastfeeding the bump so need to make sure that there is plenty of good food to hand - otherwise I will just hoover up what is around and end up bigger after the birth than before. I am the same weight now as I was when I conceived (about 3st over target)so want to keep up the good work whilst I can.

After that - well I'm gong to find the cream eggshell for the dining table set and pop it into the shed where I can find it when it's a wee bit warmer and can paint the set up.

Then - back to the craft basket to do my daily target square for the baby blanket.

SC is on with veggie soup for dinnner - BM to follow for some "dippy bread".

Fingers crossed I have the energy to make it to teatime - LOL

Can anyone point me in the direction of a website that tells you how to crochet? I feel the need to do a square a day too now!!

PS This thread is great, keep it up! Remember to get plenty of rest though to look after yourself and your bump!

Hello MemoryGirl - will be following your thread with interest! I bought the knitting magazines intending to knit a blanket. Initially for no reason, but now I have Bump, I want to do it for him/her. Still haven't got round to even opening half of the magazines...
Maybe your thread will be my inspiration!
    Wishing you luck!
