Keep checking this thread for more exerpts but nothing. Hope you are ok Memory Girl and not too busy!

Just wanted to say that you're still inspiring me. I've made lots of soup which I've frozen and not bought any ready meals for ages. All good home cooking! I love it and we're all healthier as a result, I'm sure!

    Come back soon MG!:j

I've only just found this thread, why is it hidden away in 'How much have you saved'? I never really look in here and just happened upon this thread when looking at the new posts. Now I have found it, I've subscribed (I've only read the first two pages, so want to sit down with a coffee to read the rest of this thread!) :)

Thank you for starting this, memorygirl. I'm really looking forward to reading on..........

:T I am more of a lurker but I felt I had to say (as many before me have) that I think you are an amazing person and I have read all of your posts and the others that it has generated. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to keep us up to date with what is going on in your life and I love to see what you are up to next. I wish you and yours all the best

    Smo xx

p.s. mind I did have a chuckle when I read about your son having enough knitted clothes to do him till he was a teenager

    p.p.s. loving the banter

I was so inspired by one of memorygirl's early posts that I bought an old small table thingy in the equivalent of a car boot sale in France. I've taken it to pieces and sanded it down so now have to prime it and topcoat it so it can go in the summerhouse with a lamp on it. When it's finished I'll try to post a piccie, although I'm not too sure how to do it!!!! Any advice would be very welcome.

Anyone else been inspired to take on a project as a result of reading this board?

yes, I've decided to repair a quilt that I made years ago. It needs a new backing piece but just seemed too much trouble but am going to repair it now.

Yes! It has been very inspiring. I have made blackcurrant jelly from the blackcurrants I grew, after Memorygirl made her lime marmalade sound so easy. I've started collecting scraps of fabric instead of throwing them away, to make a patchwork quilt. I was already pretty good about cooking from scratch, but I have renewed enthusiasm for using up vegetables to put soup and meals in the freezer (and in the tummies!).

I'm expecting a baby in November, and we are going to find it extremely tight financially, but this thread is helping me feel that it will be a challenge, not something to dread :) The theme in our house is definitely Make Do and Mend :D

I used to do quite a lot of patchwork a while ago but my husband was ill and I found I couldn't concentrate. I didn't go back to it, but the piccie of memorygirl's quilt did reignite a spark!! You never know........

Good luck with the baby - not long to go now!

If you're cooking from scratch have you looked at this board -

? There are lots of recipes and ideas and everyone is very supportive. I find it great for keeping me on the straight and narrow - well pretty much on the straight and narrow anyway - only boring people are perfect!!!!
