I think I need to get my act together and get my life/tiny flat all organised. I think everything could be much simpler if I was organised and tried to keep it that way rather than trying to continually organise the mess I'm in.
Thats it! let the clutter clearing, paperwork sorting mission commence!
Dunno if this will help BUT my sister used to get me to go to hers every so often and help her declutter. Because it wasn't my 'rubbish' I could be ruthless - no emotional attachment or feeling that I couldn't throw away unworn(Yes seriously) clothes because of the price paid because I hadn't paid it!. Anything she really couldn't let go of I'd bring to mine with the assurance that she could have it back. She never asked for anything back so it would be recycled/sent to charity shops etc.
The trick would be to get together with a like minded friend and arrange to help her declutter for a set number of hours and then she/he comes to you.
(The hour for an hour technique isn't mine - it's from Superwoman by Shirley Conran - but adapted)
:T
By the way memorygirl - I'm loving your thread and made homemade soup yesterday with leftover chicken carcass - shame it's so hot today! Still, it'll freeze!:rotfl:Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Hi Memorygirl
Just reading your thread reminds me of "The Green Goddess" ITV breakfast show years ago (i'm showing my age here!) she used to shake us up and get us all motivated for the day - Memorygirl your our "Green Goddess of Make Do and Mend!!!
I'm so motivated this week even recoverying from tonsillitis - I've started my journal, printed off a holiday checklist, ploughed through the ironing and washing, bought a new sewing machine, helped out at school, stuck a rocket up my DH's bottom and told the children they are going to have to be more entreprenerial if they want more money (they're doing a car boot tomorrow with the stuff I've decluttered), phew!! Now I've got to put it all in to practice LOL.:j
Look forward to your next post.

Hi Memorygirl loving your thread. Did you see my pm the other day ? I wasn't suggesting the Shabby Chic place as a replacement for MSE, just an alternative. You could see all the projects similar to your own. I still come on here every day too. XX
The Shabby Chic project site sounds interesting, please could you share the URL? I'd like some inspiration

Don't worry, but thanks for trying. I made a batch of jammy buns to my grandmother's recipe today. She said she got the recipe from her mother, who was born in 1856 so it goes back a way!!!!0 -

Thank you for the advice so far, from memory girl and Valli
Valli - I occationally get my mum round to do this for me but all that happens is she ends up seeing things of mine she wants and it clutters up her house instead of mine! I think what I need is a ruthless boy to help me declutter (my boyfriend is worse than me so will be no good) hmmm... *thinks*
I will get started soon... I promise.. (oh dear, I try so hard never to make a promise I can't/won't keep)
Keep the hints and tips coming memorygirl!
I love this thread!

I try to shower and dress before going downstairs. If I go down before doing that I end up sitting around for ages!0

I am the same if i don't get showered and dressed straight away i'll spend most of the day bumbling from job to job and getting nothing done. So as from today i'll jump out of bed and straight into the shower (Well maybe)
