Hi Guys
Feel crappy this morning - up all night with 2 poorly DS's. Only colds, but when you have such wee noses it is a miserable time. And they are men after all - :rotfl:
Feeling overwhelmed with everything that needs doing. Wish I could receive a visit from the "clutter fairy" who could wave her magic wand ........... I would send her over to your house later - Honest:A
Can barely think straight and feel really grumpy. Going to bed is not an option - so getting going has to be. So, today I am going to challenge myself to do whatever needs doing "for fifteen minutes" (got my timer standing by. Teeny mini taskets are what is needed on a day like today. Short sharp bursts of energy are about all I can muster........ and by tonight I will be able to go to bed early with the boys knowing that I have achieved so much more than if I had mooched about on the sofa all day.
FIRST TASK - hang out all of the washing - DONE
TASK 2 - blitz the kitchen - DONE
TASK 3 - Open all the lurking mail - GULP - DONE - YIKES!!!!!!!!!
TASK 4 - Find Tax Credit Application
TASK 5 - Find bedding for 2 bed flat I'm cleaning at weekend
TASK 6 - Blitz bedroom - DONE - TOOK 17 MINS BUT I HOOVERED AND DUSTED TOO
TASK 7 - Blitz DS Bedroom - DONE - ONLY TOOK 9 MINUTES
TASK 8 - Write menu and shopping plan for next week
TASK 9 - Prepare Lunch and Dinner for us all
Task 10 - Throw Rubbish out of cars ready for cleaning - DONE - BEEN PUTTING THIS OFF SINCE ABOUT CHRISTMAS
I will pop back every 15 minutes or so to check off the completed job.
On your marks ..... get set ....... GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, memorygirl  This thread has now become more of a blog than an Old Style thread. Our guidance on this topic is here. I'm going to move your thread to the How Much Have You Saved Board, which is a more appropriate place for it.
You'll be very welcome to post on the Old Style Daily thread, and the Weekly Flylady thread, along with all other threads on the Old Style board :T
Congratulations on your baby, and good luck for the rest of the year :j

memorygirl I'm loving your thread - sooo inspirational. You mentioned the other day about writing 'another' book and wondered what your first book is about and what are you planning for your second ?Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Its a shame but I think moving this has killed it off. Can't see it differs from a lot of other money saving diaries myself but hey ... who am I? Think if I were Memory Girl I wouldn't post on here now its moved either. Seems funny when threads such as Flylady etc can still remain. And no I am not getting at them just comparing. I hate unfairness.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
i wish they would move it back to os too :@(0

I don't see any unfairness.Flylady is a thread which involves lots of people whereas this is based on the efforts of one person. If Old Style was full of spending diary threads it would be even more difficult to find the help and advice we need withouht starting yet more threads.
I'm sure memory girl will return as will the other posters. It's not difficult to find threads you have posted on or subscribed to.
BTW... Congratulations on the new addition MG. :beer:0 -
Hi Guys
Aaargh I hate technology .......... thought my broadband was down. Turns out it was the telephone line instead.
Took me a while to find the thread - but I guess this is where we have to meet from here on in. Hope you guys can stay with me a while.
Feeling much more positive and OS today.
Got a double batch of hob nobs in the oven for family day at school tomorrow. Waaaaaaaaayyyy cheaper than buying something in.
Finished another cardie for the wee one. Knitting in the evening in front of the telly is beginning to become a habit. I'm pretty sure the wee one is comforted by the sound of clicking needles - as it seems to send him off to sleep pretty quickly.
MY PAINT POT CHALLENGE.
I have now sanded down my dining set - ready to prime and paint at the weekend.
Filled the dings in the chest of drawers and sanded down - same with the little cupboard I got.
Now to tackle the biggie - the welsh dresser - GULP!!! Its huge.
Keep looking at the Cotswold site for inspiration - beautiful furniture. I want a home like that. And I will have - just as soon as I finish wielding my paintbrush - LOL
MORE MONEYSAVING - Got 2 single duvet covers and pillowcase sets in cream with pin-tucks for £1.95 in local charity shop. Will do for the boys beds as nice and neutral. Also got a double for myself - cream again but beutifully embroidered in cafe and brown colours.(bargain at £2.50) Will go lovely with my bed from Ebay that I got before Christmas at £80.00.
Decided that I can't afford to buy a kitchen - so am scouring Ebay/ Freecycle / Local plumbers to find someone who is changing theirs so that I can buy second hand. You never know someone may be upgrading from a pine one that I could paint. Wonder how far this pot will stretch????
Cleaned the sofa that I got from the second hand place and ironed all the covers. If the weather gets a bit brighter I will post a picture cos its looking very glamorous.
Taking my big boy (age 7) to his ballet exam in a minute. Walking into town to save the pennies and have a packed lunch with us too.
Happy moneysaving
Memorygirl
PS Previous book was about Memory (hence the name - LOL) Think I should write one called "The single Mums guide............ to being skint but making do and mending anyways;-)GOALS - by June 11 2009 - My big 4-0Mortgage of £70K / Got £126 2 years salary £12K/ Got £00O/pay Mortgage every month 12 / 0 Weight target 10st 7lbs / Currently 12st 10lbs.Furnish house on £1K/ Spent £1000
