Hi MG, Just a wee word of warning about quilts....it is not recommended to put a quilt on the cot or pram of a baby under 12 months old.
I make a lot of quilts for babies and always put a message on to that effect, you can always use it as a play mat to lay baby down on the floor. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
MG - you are inspiring! Best of luck for the future with your 'wee' family - although you don't sound as if you need it!. I wish I was as organised as you!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi Guys
Slap my wrists - but I didn't realise how long it has been since I posted on this thread.
Now that I am no longer falling asleep into my dinner every evening I thought I'd fill you in on what has been happening.
:j HERE'S HERE!!!!! - and he is beautiful.:j
He was born at home on the 8th of April - at 4.20 am in the morning after a 90 minute labour. Literally 2 contractions after the Midwife arrived she caught him. A big boy - all of 9lbs (think I would have thought twice about a home delivery if I had known how big he was :rotfl: )
He was a VERY MSE baby - 6 weeks earlier the consultant was wittering about a c-section if he didn't turn. Mate says they cost the NHS about £25K:eek: . Instead we battled for a home birth and cost the NHS 2 hours of a midwife's time and a pair of rubber gloves - LOL. There was gas and air available we just didn't get time to unpack it - LOL.
I think we saved about £24750 there - which is not bad for the start of a life.
He is now 9 weeks old - and 16lbs  A Milk Monster. Still Bfeeding is a lot cheaper than liposuction and I now weigh loads less than I did before I fell pregnant:D .
Time to get back to business - I have loads of skills I want to teach myself to make the pennies spin out further now that I have the two littlies.
Knitting - check:o Got a basic DK pattern that goes all the way up to age 5 that I am slowly working my way through. Got a huge bag of DK wool from Freecycle that I am slowly working my way through and by Christmas I should have all the woolies knitted up to his fifth birthday.
Sewing - well now that I can see the machine for my bump I have dragged it out again. I also have an overlocker that I need to practice threading up again so I can make it earn its worth.
FIRST PROJECT
10th June 2008
My back is killing me lugging the rock-a-tot around. 16lbs of baby swinging on one arm is playing merry hell with my lower back. Solution - use a baby sling.
Beetles off to look on-line
 £36.00 plus £2.95 post and packing for a ring sling!!!!!!!!!!! erm!!! NO NO NO
Can't be toooooo difficult to make????? - (off again to look for a pattern online) Erm - am I allowed to post a link Mods?
http://www.mayawrap.com/n_sewsling.php
OK - 2 1/2 yds of fabric and two rings. - (off to attic to find some fabric - YES!!!! off to chandlers to buy two rings - YAHAY!!! £1.50 for 2 3" stainless steel rings)
Deep breath - get out sewing machine, overlocker, iron and ironing board.
Sit down to feed baby and have large cup of coffee
1 hour later - my very own Sling-ring baby carrier - Oh!!! I wish you could see how comfy he looks snuggled inside:D
And I saved myself £37.45. Thats like a whole weeks groceries !!!! Not too shabby for a couple of hours.
Now if I could work out how to post photos I could let you all have a look.
Off to do some housework before picking up DS from school and to ponder what I shall do tomorrow.
