Bought house, wood burning stove gone!

    Yes, I have my fixtures and fittings form right next to me (going in to book completion and exchange in 2 hours) and it clearly lists the boiler, lights, the separate contents in the kitchen and the bathroom fixtures and my solicitor also checked it over to confirm these had been included in F&F.

    They aren't automatically included things have to be listed in F&F. You can sell a completely gutted house, a condemned house, a fire damaged house etc... houses don't have to be 'livable' condition on sale, its the buyers job to check these things.

    The seller here charged me £50 for each set of curtains, which I paid, as I'd left all of mine at the station.  I wasn't happy to find she had 'inherited' them when she bought the place in 2012. She also left a ton of junk furniture she'd 'inherited', including a very large cane chair that hid the wet/dry rot in the bay window   Sly move :)

    I asked the question, and moved on.

    I'm really rather struggling to understand why you think a father shouldn't take an interest in his child.

    My son is unconcerned. I am unconcerned. 

    I still think it's a reasonable question to ask on this forum.

    As it happens, I cut the reins on my son when he moved away from home 15 years ago to London after Uni. He is now married with 3 kids and has his dream job at home hence the move back home, after making hundreds of his own good choices while away.

    Sorry if you think I'm taking too much of an interest.  :)
    I did not wish to imply it was unreasonable to take an interest in the offspring.

    I also realise the extent to which my MiL will comment in matters that really are for my wife to sort out as a proper grown up on the best side of 50.  It can be a fine balance between taking an interest, or interfering, or actually offending.  In my MiL's case - she will book hair appointments for my wife (which invariably need changing).  When we first married, MiL would let herself in and just start doing "stuff" in the house, washing up, hoovering etc.  The hair appointments I consider to be interfering and the "stuff" was towards offensive as it messaged that we were not keeping the house to an acceptable standard.

    Grey area, possibly, but I suspect not.
    A built-in cooker, yes, that's part of the fittings. A free-standing jobbie? Not so sure - I suspect not. Domestic appliances, def not.

    I’d hope the seller doesn’t leave any jobbies behind.

    That's a bit weird. Solar PV is so cheap these days, and solar HW comparatively expensive and with a lot to maintain/go wrong, that hardly anyone fits solar HW any more.
    Sorry to digress from discussion of solid fuel stoves!

    Solar HW is frequently mentioned in EPCs. Though, the EPCs own estimates of costs and saving then often show that it's a bad idea. I wonder if someone has been tick-boxing.

    This is true, but as somebody with a wood burner installed and an air pollution monitor in the lounge, the latter regularly goes off when I am cooking. Both the kitchen and the lounge are off the hall. In a heating season I get less than a handful of warnings, and it's usually because I've made a mistake with firing and fuelling.

    To add that I cook all electric so no burning of gas (which causes indoor pollution). It helps that I season my own wood and don't slumber the fire, tending to have fast burns and the cast iron stove retains heat.

    my buyers solicitor asked me to confirm that i would be leaving the log burner. so maybe the solicitor should have asked or your son should have asked. if they didnt agree to leave it probably not much can be done.

    Even lampshades if not listed might not be included so I got to understand. Never assume anything if you want it have it listed. 
    At this point better to enjoy the house.
