Yes all correct and you'd win at POPLA.
Even if you somehow didn't, you wouldn't PAY the thing after a POPLA 'loss' anyway, so it doesn't matter whether it's £100 or £60.
Our advice gets you to a place where you are paying nothing.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Okay, I just don't think I would be okay with paying somebody £20 when the client has agreed to cancel the charge.
If it was a decent company I would pay but these companies such as parking eye have a bad reputation for a reason and their reputation is not just because people are upset because they got a parking ticket. It's because they operate unfair bullying tactics
but I suppose everybody can play the big man hiding behind the keyboard and that's what they do.
What I find absolutely amazing is how these companies are allowed to give a ticket for example in my case after five minutes and 10 seconds and demand £60 minimum and a possible hundred pounds. How is this even possible? If the ticket would be thrown out of appeal, surely it shouldn't be given in the first place.???
and how is it even allowed if POPLA would clear it.
I think it's been that long since I got a ticket I'm just completely unfamiliar with these situations.
I remember about 20 years ago getting a parking ticket from a traffic warden and he didn't even come near the car. He just told me to move and I didn't move and then after a few minutes I did.
Afterwards, I found out in those days you needed to get the barcode on the Tax disc for the actual ticket to be valid. Naturally, the appeal was successful.

It's just an invoice. Any private company or self employed individual can issue an invoice. You either pay it, ignore it or dispute it.If you don't pay it, your plumber, hairdresser, dog groomer or parking company can spend £35 on a court claim. And there's nothing stopping any of them doing that and then discontinuing at the eleventh hour.
The only difference is that plumbers tend to plumb during their working day and aren't morally corrupt.4 -
Oh, I'll see what you mean now..
I mean, don't get me wrong. I've had parking tickets before on double yellow lines when I was younger or even by the police themselves for obstruction and I've never disputed them when I was genuinely in the wrong I just paid it.
Sometimes I've seen rich people with very nice cars park up in certain areas and rather get the parking ticket as it's cheaper than parking so I've seen a lot as I've been on the road 26 years..
Just this situation, it was a new one....
the fact that the actual pub head company, which they manage chain of pubs ,straightaway agreed with me and we're very sympathetic and cancelled it
but this absolute disgrace of a company , why they are hated with genuine hate ,still want to get £20 out of me with something I've never heard of before.
They do ask this company to monitor their pub car park and at the same time want to maintain great public relations that's not really going to happen when they get bad reviews for using parking guy which is exactly what's happened in the past. I just checked it today.

The parking "industry" spews out some absolute nonsense at times, this - if this is what they said is amongst thatYes we can confirm your first appeal was received and a response was issued on 06/06/2025 advising 'We have recently received a request to cancel this parking charge via our client. Following a review of the case, we are unable to cancel the parking charge at this stage
There is no unable to about it other than some mealy-mouthed male bovine faecal matter that the censor on here won't allow me to post the correct word
They created it, they cancel it, end of
Why do people blithely accept this nonsense?

"We are unable to..." is simply a lie; of course they are able to!5m10s is insufficient time for a "consideration period" - the BPA/IPC's Code Of Practice (https://www.britishparking.co.uk/Code-of-Practice-and-Compliance-Monitoring , which is baloney from a bunch of scammers anyway!) sets the time at 10 minutes (ref. https://www.creativecarpark.co.uk/the-new-private-parking-code-of-practice-grace-period-explained/ ).The "Code" states "4.1. The parking operator must ensure that at least one sign containing the terms and conditions for parking can be viewed without the driver needing to leave the vehicle".Regarding the 10 minutes, the "Code" also gives some waffle about a 5-minute "Minimum" period of 5 minutes for car parks <500 spaces: "1. This is not relevant where there is evidence that a consideration period has ended other than entry and exit onto land. The minimum consideration period occurs when a parking operator assumes after a set period of time that the consideration period has ended.", which is nigh-on incomprehensible. The "Code" defines the "Landowner" as "2.17. Landowner: the owner(s) or legal occupier of controlled land or such company or person legally entitled to act on their behalf."; therefore the pub operator meets the definition of "Landowner" and so they should have honoured the Landowner's instruction to cancel the ticket.Parkingeye are a member of the BPA (https://www.britishparking.co.uk/marketplace/parkingeye/153951 ) and have therefore signed up to the "Code".The £20 is a begging letter with no basis (other than their greed). The normal expectation is that an appeal will be rejected (generally appealing to the good nature of a scammer is going to fail anyway) and thereby increase the amount they are demanding, they'd be fools to escalate it further because it would be laughed out of court.(All IMHO, of course!)

Welcome to the world of COWBOYS, who no longer ride horses but cameras instead
As said above ... "We are unable to..." A LIE AND MORE RUBBISH THAT BLOCKED BIRMINGHAM
We all agree, do not pay AND if ParkingEye want to be stupid, a judge would laugh them out of court
As a footnote, you say it was a pub. If they continue using cowboys, it will soon close

Just for reference, because this will be googled in the future... it is a very rare that I've seen this, but it has happened before

It's just not mentioned as much as the usual disputes on this website, those views are very helpful because so many people roll over and pay he needs to stop.
Would it make a difference if I say I actually parked up and went inside in comparison to went in the car park and left?
Also, does it make a difference that I didn't actually pay any payment?
Another question is there anything wrong with me actually posting the name of the establishment or is this not a good idea?
I have to admit reading all of the information on this website of how people are standing up for themselves really makes me feel good because these kind of things trigger off anxiety in certain people0 -
Please post the name of the place. We always do when reporting articles in the Parking in the News/Media thread!
Do not state that you went inside, simply use the words I gave you about the 5 minutes and disability. ParkingEye will either concede or they'll lose at POPLA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
