That's what we have got. Because my wife does low mileage we can charge from this once a week.QrizB said:There are EV-rated 13A sockets available which are designed to better handle prolonged operation at high currents. If I had to regularly charge an EV from a 13A socket I'd look to fitting one of those.

My car has an electric handbrake. That's already too much electric stuff for me. Hate it.0

Really unfair to compare the two as I suspect the Petrol version has really different weight distribution so might not feel positively dangerous to drive.flaneurs_lobster said:

Hateful vehicle for the money.
The petrol version's on my shortlist, anything worth sharing or are your hates all e- related?1 -
The rhino in the room is when the Government seeks to make up for the shortfall of tax revenue. In the US there is already discussion about levying EV owner's with an additional annual tax. Free lunches never last forever.2

If vehicle sales continue to plumment for the brand. Nationwide coverage for servicing might not be that great in the longer term. Nor speedy availability of parts.DrEskimo said:I certainly don’t plan on getting my Tesla serviced every year.I have found an independent Tesla specialist centre not too far from me in Reading, so will be taking my car to them if/when I need anything doing.0 -
I know journalists want a simple yes/no message (usually and for general media outlets), but there isn't a simple yes/no for electric vehicles.
A lot comes down to the car (which is pretty obvious, since it's always been that way since we had a horse vs. a buggy vs. a cart). And for EVs, particularly, a lot comes down to what kind(s) of charging you use - that gives a range of costs and a range of different levels of convenience.
I used my EV originally for home-charging overnight (cheap, but somewhat constrained by the electricity company choice of charging window). I'm now doing public charging only, which works for me - the cost isn't much different to home charging because the chargers I normally use include free parking (which is otherwise quite expensive).
What journalists need to do is to look at how various EV drivers use their cars, and what their costs are. A single one-size fits all approach isn't going to work.3 -
That sounds like user error (and MacMaster is a typical doom-boomer). Any transaction involving a £120k car is always going to be costly. And at least he was in a position with his PCP to know in advance what he was getting into.sheenas said:The worse example I have seen Porsche taycan gen 1 owner by the youtuber MacMaster.. He said that he purchased the car for around £120,000 on a 4 year PCP with a £20K deposit and £1,000 ish per month. So thats cost him £68K over 4 years well its worse than that because he has gone over the milage which will cost hime something like £8,000. The PCP value is £50,000 and the WebuyAnyCar.com value is around £26,000, so no easy ways out of it for him. Point being while a petrol tycan would use a shed load of petrol and devalue badly it's nothing like £68,000s worth.
On my lease, it looks like I will be quids-in. The list price of the car when new was c. £32k. I am part-way through a 4-year lease which will cost c. £14k. But the secondhand value of the car will probably be c. £10k. So, I'm around £8k ahead.
