Alternative payment arrangement UC

Options
Hi,

I have an APA set up for my UC payment for 4 payments a month - I recently received my first payment under this set up and have a couple questions.

My statement says I will receive 4 payments a month approx 7 days apart, with the first being Tuesday 27th May (last week).

However, I received this payment into my barclays bank on Sunday 25th May which is highly unusual and the only time I have ever received a UC payment on a weekend - does this mean I will receive the next payment Sunday 1st June? Or Tuesday 3rd June? It doesn't help that the statement doesn't give specific dates...

Thanks in advance.

Never normally on a Sunday. Sometimes if UC don't release a payment on time and there are not enough bank processing days to ensure a payment is received on time, a faster payment is triggered.  I think this is what has happened here. The first payment has been released as a faster payment and it would have gone through to most banks on  Monday 26th, but Barclays system has allowed it to be received in your account on a Sunday.

Your next payment should be received next Tuesday and the following 2 Tuesdays.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Out of interest, why do you need weekly payments?

I have a history of drug addiction coupled with bi polar and drug induced psychosis. Having one lump sum a month was triggering my worst symptoms of each of these issues and we were not sure why, then my drug worker suggested we try as small amounts being paid at a time as possible - it worked much better and I've managed to build a life for myself, a life that for me is as close to success as I can imagine getting.
    Glad it working for you.

Well done finding a way to do that!

I guess the downside is that you've 4 times the likelihood of a payment issue. But they do seem to be very few and far between once UC is all set up and established. I've never had a payment on a Sunday. Usually if it's due on a non banking day (weekend or bank holiday) it's paid the last working day before.

I suspect this is more of a Banking issue than DWP, who don't general work on a Sunday

    Hi,

So another question, sorry and thanks in advance.

My journal entry when APA was set up said "From 27 May 2025 you'll be paid approximately every 7 days. You'll get the same amount overall - the total will be split into 4 payments."

My assessment period ends on 20th of each month.

Since my calculation ending 20th May I have received a payment each Tuesday with the first being 27th May and the last being 17th June.

Now my question is - should I expect another payment tomorrow, 24th June 2025, which would line up with it being another 7 days since my last weekly payment or will I get it on the 27th June 2025 (this coming Friday) which would be 10 days since my last weekly payment?

I am very confused with this, I thought and think it will remain every 7 day but I am unsure if that is right and actually I'd be having to wait slightly longer between last payment of the assessment period and first payment of new assessment period?

And above - thanks in advance.

I don't know for sure, but I expect exactly as you have described above, that the first payment of each AP will always be on 27th of each month, and then the next 3 payments will be 7 days later, giving a gap of 9 or 10 days between the 4th and 1st payments for each AP
