Sorted the fridge and larder as planned, got lettuce soup on the go (I had a big bag of lettuce that needed using and more in the garden that needed cutting). Then DD2 turned up with smallest GCs, who are getting quite big now - where does the time go? Little GS was carrying my cake tin, and was aghast that I hadn't made more cakes to put in it
So, I quickly mixed up some chocolate chip buns, which are the favourite at the moment and only take 15 or 20 minutes in the oven. Everyone had lettuce soup for lunch, including fussy GD. I was surprised when she asked for some. Some of the cakes disappeared for afters, and the rest of them went home with them in my well travelled cake tin.
I cut the garden lettuce in between the rain, which was very heavy at times. All about lettuce today!More lettuce for dinner, along with other salad bits and stuffed jacket potatoes (baked potatoes cut in half, with the middles scooped out and mashed, fried onions and grated cheese added, then piled back into the skins and browned under the grill).I haven't got round to doing my clothes yet - I am currently wearing both a jumper and a thick cardigan, so maybe a good thing6 -
Ouch @f0xh0les that sounds painful! Hope it eases soon, and you feel less sore too @grandmanerd.
DH got the pressure washer out for me this morning. I did the French down the driveway, the top of a stone bench, & a big pile of wood from the old climbing frame/treehouse.
Went to town. Mum wanted to buy us both some earrings to remember DS1 by, & wear to the funeral, so looked in a few jewellery shops. Got the same but here are slightly bigger. Sat in the car til time for my haircut, then after did a good shop. Collected DS3 from the cinema after tea.
Was our wedding anniversary yesterday, 27 years married, & 30 together! Obviously not celebrating this year.
Grateful for getting the pressure washing done, time with mum, my lovely new earringsUse it up, wear it out

Been a tough week - funeral on Wednesday for the 8 month still born baby of Mr KK’s niece. Beautiful but utterly heart rending service. Deliberately had a quiet day yesterday to catch up with myself and because it was too wet to garden. Lunch with a friend was lovely 😊
Made a veggie bolognese batch for the freezer and started my first ever crochet kit, with huge yarn (it needs a 12mm needle to give you an idea! 😉).
Gratitudes: a warm cosy home, setting the world to rights with friend, some proper rain yesterday (finally!), the beautiful colour of my crochet yarn - it makes me think of raspberries and ice cream 😊

I am calling NSD 5/8 today. Ended up going out last night. It was terrible. Felt like i should go as a friend who's visiting wanted to go, and he is leaving next week, but I did not enjoy. Decided I will not be making any more evening plans for the rest of the month. Walked home from the train station as I preferred to save taxi money, but it took 45 min. Probably not the best idea as the wild boar are out!! but it's OK, I have a plan!! Also saw a dead snake at the side of the road. A large one.
Grateful for not spending too much money last night, I'm €10 over for the week, so not too bad. Also for spending time with my friend, although the night was not my cup of tea. And spending time with him yesterday means that I don't have to go out today! Also grateful I managed to write today and for a fun pool day yesterday.Student loan £5655
House deposit €31,592K/€40k6 -

@Shrewbie, please share your plan for dealing with boar. We have them here as well and it puts me off walking in the woods on my own …
Thank you @Rowan9

Brighter weather and a brighter mood. I can walk without my stick and foot is less painful. I spent a long time in the shower and massaged my knees, ankles, shoulders and other hurting bits. Gathered bags of rubbish and recycling. They're all by the back door for now.
Made a reasonable curry using stuff that was most in need of using up, don't think it'll get as far as the freezer, will eat the rest tomorrow. I hadn't put the tuna wraps in the freezer so ate those for lunch.
Grateful for good food from what's in the house, hot shower jets, being more able.5 -
NSD #2 for me todayStarted off the day by taking the dishwasher filters etc out and giving it a good clean. The glamour!Did some cooking and food prep for the next few days (and beyond, some is heading for the freezer). I made shepherds pie base and bolognese sauce from one pack of beef, plus assorted beg and a tin of lentils, and griddled aubergine and onion slices for a pizza topping. Then cleaned the kitchen down and did the washing up.We were invited to dinner with DD and family, so I spent the rest of the morning and the early part of the afternoon in the garden, before we we left to go to DD's.. Got a fair bit done. No rain today but I wish it would warm up a bit.Grateful today for getting some useful tasks done, and for a lovely dinner that I didn't have to cook.5

I made it to the GPO, paid the bill then walked 2 blocks to the £ emporium and managed to buy the bulk of the medical stuff I wanted (painkillers, bandages, plasters - even found the bite and sting cream) and added a few food items (cheese spread to go with all the baby tomatoes I have). Another block to the corner and then back towards home, calling at B00ts for a meal deal. I have several ideas for meals based on the stuff I have in (depending on whether I can stand up), I have taken 2 bags of frozen veg out and left them in my steamers over a bowl to defrost. Straight down towards home, pausing to rest every now and then. Let the lights change several times until my leg felt okay. On the last leg (mine too), my ankle 'went' a few times, it hurt but I didn't get near to falling.
Rubbish and recycling went out this morning, the remaining washing went out on the line (it's getting wet now but it's only a couple of items of clothing and lots of bits, random socks and gloves and cleaning rags). Used up some grapes, crackers, mushroom pate, last piece of cheese and a small yoghurt and another portion of curry (there is a third portion).
Thankful for good food, getting to the GPO and other tasks done, taking time to rest.5 -
NSD #3I spent the morning sorting out my clothes. I pulled everything out of the wardrobe and gave that a good clean before putting back the seasonal items (plus a few jumpers for when it is chilly). Thermals, some jumpers and thick tights etc have been put away. I washed 2 winter dresses and they can go away too as soon as aired. There is a bag to take to the CS, and I chucked out some worn out leggings. Before binning them, I cut a long strip of fabric to tie a young plum tree to its stake. Nice and soft so it won't damage the bark, and saves buying a tree tie thingy, which not only saves money but avoids plastic.2 loads of washing dried outside on the line. It hasn't been a particularly nice day, but it dried ok.Made stir fry for dinner to use up fridge stuff. Added mangetout peas and coriander from the gardenDid a bit in the garden this afternoon, mainly cutting out new shoots from the loganberry which is going mad as usual at this time of the year. I only let it keep 3 new shoots (it will fruit on those next year), or it would get far too big for the fence. I think it would take over the whole garden! There are lots of berries coming so I guess it will be loganberry jam this year.Grateful today for another NSD, for getting my clothes sorted, and the washing dried for free.6
