Hugs to those that need them. Living the sound of your crochet @KajiKita. Thanks for the card @beanielou. Good luck @f0xh0les jnr 🤞
Had a phone call from the PC first on the scene yesterday. He's able to arrange for us to lay flowers where my son died, & answer some questions we had. So now feel less anxious & pleased we have a point of contact.
Raining this morning, so me & DH went to town. Recycled all DS2'S 4 black bags of empty water bottles, & went to the garage that has been promising to fix DS1'S car since Feb/Mar. Told him it's being collected to go to another garage & that we wanted a discount for any work done so far (maybe just tyres). He was shocked at the news & says there's no charge. As he bl**dy should!
The rain cleared up this afternoon, so I weeded 2 raised beds, found some tiny potatoes amongst the raspberries, no idea how they got there 😂 Went for a walk after tea.
Grateful for sunshine, surprise fatties, lovely messages & cardsUse it up, wear it out

Trying to maintain a mental balance this week has been hard. Trying to get roommate G into Alcohol rehab has taken half of my time and taking care of roommate D has taken the other half, leaving nothing to care for me and the cats. The cats get fed and then go in and take over my bed so I can't even go in and take a nap! All three of them were spread out on it today. Tomorrow I go to my Crocheting class. I am hoping to go to a meeting at 2 at the library and have some research time. Roommate J needs the car for work tomorrow. Fortunately the class and the library are only a few blocks apart and with my walker I think I can get between them without a problem. I will stop and get lunch on the way. May have to consider it my "mini-vacation" this month. G has to sober up before they will take in into rehab. D will have to get her own lunch tomorrow.9

Pottered about, then a friend came to visit. She gave us a lovely rose to plant in the garden. She said some lovely things & gave me comfort.
Then another friend picked me up, we drove to the next parish & had dinner outside at a picnic table, followed by an ice cream. We went for a walk with her dog, over to a small island. She'd only been once, many years ago. We noticed people running, then realised that the sea was starting to cover the causeway! Off came out shoes & socks & we paddles back across. Once at the other side, we sat on a big rock, put on our shoes & ate some rocky road. What a laugh we had!
Had a visit from the teacher I work with. A nap after tea, then did some knitting & watched the end of series.
Grateful for friends, laughter & kind wordsUse it up, wear it out

@Thrifty_Taylor - We still have the rose bush we were given when my grandmother died. It is over thirty years old already.6

NSD # 2 for me yesterday, but today won't be as OH wants me to order something for him online.I need to sort out the fridge and larder today, to make sure that things get used up rather than wasted.I must also make pesto, as the basil pots in the conservatory needs another haircut.More rain is expected today, so no outside watering needed, but I will need to do the greenhouse and house plants.I must look in the garage to see if there is a pot large enough to repot a temperamental houseplant that I was given by my eldest grandson and his fiancee for a big birthday a couple of years ago. It is a pain to look after, and frequently looks less lovely than it ought to, but obviously has sentimental value so I don't want it to die. It is a tricky one, and certainly not one I would buy for myself. Nearly all of my other houseplants started as cuttings from other people's, or 'rescues' from a supermarket's reduced shelves, and they tend to just get on with life without too much input from me, but this one is a bit of a divaI would also like to sort through my winter clothes, wash and iron them if not already done, and store them away. Not sure if I will get all of this done today!.5

Heavy rain showers today but we need it. Did dodge the worst by enjoying a camomile tea in a coffee shop and I’m ok about that.Did bit of a food shop which means easy and healthy meals for a few days.Bought DD a voucher as she deserves it.Grateful for camomile tea, sensible snack of walnuts, apple and cheese rather than toast and butter, very kind people. I do really appreciate that.Sending hugs to those who might like a hug.4

I had such good intentions! I had plans!
Went for a mammogram first thing this morning, came out of the portacabin, tripped off a dropped kerb, hit both knees, one elbow, and 2 palms on the way down and have been on the sofa all day.
It is getting better, but coming down the stairs is a masterclass in inventive swearing 🤬 .
The only good things are ......that 6 weeks ago I would have had an extra 17lbs of weight landing on my knees, so welldone me, and that I couldn't help wondering if the same company that makes clarks' feet measuring machines make the mammogram tables ......

Oh dear @foxholes - that sounds like something I would do. And it sounds very painful. Those mammogram tables are the reasons most women put off having one. There should be a better way. Hope you get to feeling better soon. There used to be a book on How to Swear in 25 Languages at our library. Wish I had checked it out to learn some more words - but around here there may just be someone who speaks whatever language you choose to try it in. There were 29 different languages spoken by the students in my father's math classes! He once put the instructions for the problems in all of the different languages - took an entire page just for the instructions. He never did find out a word for "divide" in Laotian though. Even the students couldn't help on that one.

Very little got done here, but some things did. I have swept (dug up) loads of rubbish including most of the chinchilla pellets (couldn't bend any more and it didn't help my breathing). I have 3 x 40 l heavy duty bags (should crush down the stuff in the bins when filled with the pallets) and have also used 3 delivery bags as well as loads of tins and bottles and paper waste. I put my winter coat on the line yesterday and brought it in before it rained today. I gave in and ordered a new phone online - was supposed to come on Monday but now says Wednesday. I tried my usual supplier last week but they don't deliver them any more, I also attempted to get the smart phone up and running but it's too small and fiddly and the instructions were too tiny as well,
My laptop further complicated things by deciding I should log in again (and they would send a code to the missing phone) - gahh! I found a way round that but the payment page refused to load properly, This was after I had done an order for plasters, support bandages etc and happened again with 2 small food orders. I did get a small food order by using a retailer I don't like - kept it small in case they decided to check with my bank which would mean the send a code to the missing phone,
My plans for yesterday were to pay one bill online, one bill at the GPO, visit the Community shop and buy the phone from the SM. Alternatively I could go to the GPO then head for the high street, use one of the phone shops there, get medical supplies from B00ts and maybe pick up some bits from other retailers. As the day progressed I cut back my plans, gave up any idea of using buses, cut out 'other retailers' and finally got down to the most urgent task via taxi. After my limited online success I needed an afternoon nap but did move things later and found some needed paperwork.
Today I really wanted to go to the GPO and pay the bill (been trying all week but my leg says NO). I thought of using a taxi and asking him to wait (they can't charge when they're not moving but I would have compensated the driver). I started well (pills, teeth, shower etc) all with gritted teeth and lots of willpower, My foot hurts even to stand on and couldn't manage the walk round the corner to the taxi office (no phone means I can't ask them to pick me up or phone if they just dropped me off). I have been doing strengthening and mobility exercises (lots of clenching groups of muscles and releasing them) and using the cold then hot water in the shower to massage my knees and other painful bits. Things will get better but I feel so useless atm.
When I decided that the GPO was a job for another day (think I exhausted myself going round in circles in my head) I found a film to watch and thoroughly enjoyed it. A whodunnit which mocked itself throughout.
Grateful for a lovely display of poppies in my yard, a bit of excitement watching the firemen on the far side of the car park (no danger as I think it was an empty building on fire - no flames just smoke) finding bits to eat (tuna wraps with sweetcorn and 2 plain tuna put away in the freezer, tinned mandarins, a small piece of cheddar with some grapes, fruit yoghurt with oats). Hugs to those that want them.7
