Hi everybody and thanks for the comments.
I applied via a link in Martins weekly MSEmoneytips email of 15 April which stated

Ends Sun. FREE £30 Amazon, 1% bills cashback, top overseas debit card & you NEEDN'T switch bank to get it. New & existing customers opening a Santander Edge* current account via this link get a £30 Amazon voucher.

Hence the transfer rather than new application.

But you have to successfully apply for and open a new Edge, Edge Up or Everyday current account to be eligible for the offer.

Anyway, it seems that there's a new offer open from today for a £25 Amazon gift card. So maybe try again with that?

I'm not quite understanding 'transfer'.  The offer was for opening an account. Did you open a new account?
(If you're saying you converted a 123 account to an Edge account then that wouldn't be opening an account, just a rebranding of an existing one.)

Did you switch another account into it?

My understanding of a "transfer" in this context is the upgrading or downgrading of one account to another account with the same bank. For example a 123 account to an Edge account, but if the Edge account was already opened before the offer started then it's ineligible.

I think I now see my mistake. I thought that by by transferring from a 123 account to a "new" Edge account classed as opening the new account. My mistake and thanks for putting me right.

When did you actually open the Edge account? Was it on or after 7th April, but before the offer was pulled (sorry, I can't remember what date it was pulled)?
