@Cloth_of_Gold The trouble with that sort of thing on amazon is that its nothing like the picture, the upside is they are very easy to return, OH bought some office chair armrest covers and they were wafer thin and see through, so the went back.No flying today. I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow, so on the awful moviprep now6

weenancyinAmerica said:Have you considered damask napkins about the right color? You might also check an upholstery shop for some material that might go with your chair.I think that napkins would keep slipping off, which woud be very annoying. I don't really want to have a new set made if I can help it because it's not easy to find someone to do a relatively small job like that and it would doubtless be very expensive if I could find someone. I'm a bit annoyed because it's not so long since it was recovered and the material was quite expensive. The left arm looks terrible (the right one is ok) as there is now a tear about 4 or 5 inches long, plus another smaller one, and you can see the padding underneath. At the moment it's in the too dificult tray....@Valli I'm sorry that you and your sister are ill - as you say, probably the stress of it all has made you a bit more vulneralbe to things. Hope you're both better soon. I know what you mean about address books. When my friend died a couple of years ago I found a couple of them in his house but they were very old and I didn't know who a lot of the people were (some I know were tradespeople). none of the people whom I knew to be his relatives or friends were in there. I had his post re-directed to me for two years and he had a couple of Christmas cards from friends but I had no way of contracting them - it was very frustrating.@Spikeygran I might try the Amazon ones (with low expecations) but, as you say, at least they are easy to return. I hope your colonoscopy gives a reassuring result. The bowel prep isn't much fun I know - sending hugs and spoons. This morning I prepared some post (a card and newspaper cuttings to our elderly friend in Plymouth and a belated birthday card and present to a friend in Southampton) and took them to the PO. I'd dopped some chocolate on a shirt and hadn't noticed and it had melted and made a mess. I put it and a pair of chinos in the WM when we went out yesterday but only got around to looking at them this morning. There was still a slight stain from the chocolate so I hand washed the area and put it, and the chinos, on the rack to dry. That is the limit of my flying today. After that I took A to the hospital where he had an appointment with the physio. He also wanted to go to another department and talk to the pharmacist there. He wants to change one of his meds and the consultant told him ;ast week that they would discuss it as part of their case conference meeting next month. I told him the pharamcist wouldn't be able to do anything and he would have to wait for the outcome of the case conference but he said I was being negative! Predictably, the phamacist said the same as me but he just accepted from her. Hey-ho.On the way home we popped into Waitrose and we finally got home just gone 4. We'bv had tea, and lemon drizzle cake, and it's now 5.15 so I don't forsee any more flying today, apart from washing up.

@Cloth_of_Gold - When you mentioned that they may slip, it suddenly occurred to me that my mother and my grandmother had a special kind of pin that they used to hold the cloth covers and doilies in place. Don't know if such a thing was widely used elsewhere. Never really thought about it before. They looked something like wide hairpins.9

ClothofGold have a look on Etsy.com uk and search for yellow damask arm chair arm caps protectors. There is plenty on there to browse although damask wasn’t featured lots of other fabrics were such corduroy and chenille . Have a look.I used to sell some craft items I made on Etsy a few years ago and it is a great platform for craft makers. I have recently bought some bespoke mustard yellow velvet cushion covers piped in black and also hand knitted eyelash scarves and all was excellent.8

i’ve had a lovely chat on the phone with the daughter of one of mums cousins, mum sent xmas cards…she shared mum’s unusual surname, as does her brother. Another cousin changed his (the one who died and we didn’t know) to MacArthur as his dad was Arthur and having a girl’s name for a surname got too much for him.
I’ve never met anyone with that surname who wasn’t a relative but I did meet someone who had the same surname with a s added at the end.
Funeral booked, decisions made without rancour…ashes will be going North and South so we get the in 2 scattering tubes (cue weeping). Sis suggested the place I thought (North) plus the one DS suggested (South). Florist visited…the one I wanted is the one the Funeral Directors use anyway… so neat!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I hope it goes smoothly, benign results and you get back to normal very quickly afterwards.(((Hugs))) Valli. I used my mother's address book when she died and there were a lot of non-responses. I don't think that part of your experience is unusual, sadly. Well done on getting through the funeral planning.I managed four hours of admin yesterday, thought I'd done everything I could manage for the day apart from the dailies and then found myself much later repotting the cucumber and pepper plants I've been nurturing for well over six weeks and worrying about nearly all that time.In terms of flying, I've always felt hugely guilty about not doing more, and that somewhere, pretty much everywhere in the house needs more attention than I give it. Only this week (I'm 69 fpr goodness sake) I realised, at long, long last, that I'm compairing it to my parent's house and they had people in for 10 hours a week to do the work! I never saw a duster in my mother's hand - when my father asked her to marry him she said Yes, and I'll go anywhere in the world with you [he was army], have as many children as you want, but I won't do housework. And she never did.Went to see Mark Steel last night and he was wonderful, well worth the ticket price. He came on at 8,00pm and we finally left at 10.45. He's much, much ruder on stage than on Radio 4 but hilarious, open and honest about himself and the run in he had with cancer and all his closest relationships. Thoroughly recommended if he's anywhere near any of you on his current tour.Better is good enough.7

If anyone in the east has enough puff to send the real rain westwards, I would be grateful. Mutterings of a hosepipe ban here. Not that I use the hosepipe to water, but it’s indicative of the lack of water.Vague plans for the day being formulated here, but it’s proving to be a slow start to the day. I need to touch up the paintwork in the utility room and small hallway now that all workmen have left. The door people are due to come back to rectify a mistake, but I will have to hope that they don’t make a big mess, which they shouldn’t but you never know. Other intentions include sewing, plus I need to make a card for my niece’s birthday. I finished knitting my chunky cardigan (so suitable for the time of year…) last night, so have new knitting to start at some point too.Hmmm, not a lot of flying in that list of intentions.5

Morning xx
We had proper rain here earlier too. Stopped now. No idea what the forecast is - haven't got that far yet.
Return to work after my week off was a bit of a roller coaster: Tuesday and Thursday I was very stressed for different reasons, Wednesday and Friday were good. Glad to be home and well ready for the weekend.
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, completed Strands with one hint, completed Wordle in five, only managed two lines on Connections, supped two brews, eaten breakfast, and written a list as I mustn't forget to feed Poppy 🐈 every day up to and including Wednesday, pick a present up for Pops, and other 'not usual' bits and bobs.

I'm waiting for DB to drop off his door key before I go upstairs to shower. Law of Sod that the minute I step in the shower he'll knock. So trying to sidestep that: I've written on the birthday cards I bought this week. Just need to buy a card for DB (August) then I'm sorted til November birthdaycardwise.
Here he is.
