Thanks to those who have given encouragement and advice on masks. Yesterday we visited a friend who has been in hospital with a vision problem, scans for which showed that she has a small brain aneurysm (It wasn't causing the vision problems - the aneurysm was an incidental finding. She is naturally very worried but as it is small they are just going to monitor it at the moment. When we there she said that her late husband had a CPAP machine and if he woke up in the night he took off the whole mask rather than unplugging the pipe. We tried that and A was able to manage that more easily. He has been practising and after we get back from the physio tomorrow afternoon if he has a nap he is going to try putting it on and leaving it on whilst he naps. If that goes ok then hopefully he'll start wearing it at night. He had an appointment with the GP this morning and I put a small load on to wash whilst we were out. I also took down a bag of rubbish. The only other flying is washing up.7

Valli said:eltee2 said:Crikey valli - antimacassars?! 😀 I had a flashback to my nan's house (always spotless & uncluttered)
Feel sorry for myself…have a head cold. Took parrots at 7 for my poor head and sinusesSpeaking of antimacassars (sort of) we have a Queen Anne style wing armchair that has a yellow cotton damask cover. When we had it re-covered a few years ago we ahd some arm caps and an antimacassar made form the sme material. The arm caps have now worn out and the material on one of the arms is looking rarther tatty. I don't want to have the whole chair recovered at the moment as most of it looks ok still and it's an expensive business. I no loner have any of the material that was used so can't have a new set of arm caps made that will be an exact match. Does anyone knnow if anywhere sells ready-made yellow cooton damask arm caps (a long shot I know).I saw these on Amazon which would be ok at a push I suppose but they are polyester (I would much prefer cotton) and don't have a damask weave. They do look as if they are approximately the right colour though so owld be better than nothing but I wss hoping to get something nicer and a better match in other repsects. https://www.amazon.co.uk/VEGCOO-Polyester-Armchair-Furniture-Protector/dp/B0D942VS9S/

Have you considered damask napkins about the right color? You might also check an upholstery shop for some material that might go with your chair.7

Today today we go the the Funeral Directors.
Weve both been ill…sis with a bug, me with a cold so wondering if stress made us vulnerable,
Using mums address book (chaotic actually…same addresses written down multiple times, appointments recoded in it) and phone to contact people. Got a funny signal on one number so googled him and found out he’d died. Mums cousin and she never knew.
It’s quite a chore…I don’t know who everyone is, I know a lot are former colleagues.

Sending you all my spoons, Valli x
I have put a couple of hours labour / exercise (which one depends on my mood, the jobs, the weather etc etc) at the allotment. The first broad beans are coming along nicely, and I have picked my first (very small) bunch of flowers for the kitchen. Weeds weeded, manure shifted, sunflowers planted. Now to move onto the back garden. I need to s&s the downstairs toilet this afternoon. As it is my hated job, I am more than happy to procrastinate.
Iona - our lunch was really nice, thank you x. DH reckoned he had last been there over 20 years ago. We will be going back, although given the portion sizes, I will have to wait a while if slinky is to have any chance. Shame about the pub choice for your lunch.
