Cooking done as planned and mostly stashed in the freezer for future meals. WUDUPA. Kitchen sink cleaned again as turmeric was involved. HHI. Dressmaking pattern cut out from an old sheet. It’s a super easy pattern that I am borrowing from DD, but I have made a couple of adjustments and I need to know these are right. Better to find this out on an old sheet than on the purchased material. Waiting for Mr M to deliver in the next hour.
Sunny and humid here. You can pretty much hear the slugs marching.6 -

The plan for this morning is to do some cooking prep in the kitchen. It seems that my meal planning for the week only went up to yesterday. Whoops. So in the plan for this morning is chard/spinach pesto and a spinach and chard frittata. And some pasta to turn some leftovers into salad for lunch.

Welcome back CofG and I hope you get a suitable mask/pipe combination soon so you can both benefit.
We really need rain here; lots of garden watering to be done as well as the greenhouse as there isn't much left in the water butts. So far various beans have been very patchy in germinating, as have tomatoes - usually 2 of my strengths. However, peas and a range of different flowers are doing well, as is sweet corn and the few broad beans I've put in. Lots of cute baby birds around - goldfinches, blue tits, starlings.
Keeping up with flying/flower arrangements etc as we've had various visitors so have kept on top of things.
Less progress on the study/hobby room or the tax return. And not as much drumming as I'd hoped.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.6 -

Morning all,
Thank you Narc0. I have all of the ingredients and even sweet potatoes that I want to use, so it’s swapped onto tomorrow night’s meal plan. DH brought me the Mr T magazine home but I hadn’t got round to reading it, so now I have the physical recipe in hand. My aim at the beginning of the year to reduce my recipe collection is not going to plan…!
One load in the wm. I did today’s list on Tuesday, so am swapping to the LR this morning. DH and I are going to a new to us pub for lunch. Not sure why we have never been there, as it’s really not that far. I still have some plants to get into pots, maybe this afternoon. Tomorrow is designated as allotment day, in the hope that yesterday’s rain will have at least made the ground less hard.
ETA - hope your cold clears up soon, Valli. I have hunted for antimacassars, pretty sure that DH will have his parents’ - or even grandparents’ - somewhere in his Treasured Stuff, but that may take me a while to search….5 -

We had a smattering of drizzle here which is frustrating as I'd filled up all the watering cans (how have we acquired 5?) so that the water butt would get topped up. Is it okay to say I feel a hosepipe ban approaching in my waters?Mushroom straganoff made and all the pre-made meals are now stashed in the freezer. They're all things Belovéd doesn't particularly like so they are really just for me and that's fine. Meal planing done for next week as I'll be popping into Mr L on the way back from the Foodbank tomorrow, so the shopping list is now ready.ETA: Yet again I forgot to click on Post Comment.Better is good enough.5

The dawn woke me up
I considered going outside to do some gardening then but rejected that idea as it had been quite chilly overnight. Instead I went back to bed for an hour, drank tea, did Wordle in 5, Strands with only one hint to start me off, and Connections without too much difficulty. Then I sat at my desk and thought about last night's meeting and what I need to do next.
After breakfast I did go out in the garden. Almost all the seeds that I had collected last autumn (and, tbh, in previous years) have been scattered, mostly along the drive border - they can take their chance. The rest need to be grown in trays or pots. The ground was damp from yesterday's rain, and more is forecast at the weekend, so the scattered seeds should be OK. I also put out some flowering tobacco plants in the border where I can see them from the LR, and planted up some of the big pots. This evening I've watered them all.
Tomorrow, weather permitting, it will be the turn of the tomato and bean plants. I have to go to MrAl so will see if they have any decent bedding plants, as I could do with one more tray of 6 of something to go with purple osteospermum and trailing blue lobelia. Perhaps some pink impatiens. If MrAl hasn't got anything, the independent greengrocer's is only just down the road, and although their F&V are extortionate (apples etc are far too large for one person and sold loose by the kilo) their plants are quite reasonably priced and of good quality.
We went out for lunch at a pub in a nearby village with our friends L and C. It was good to have time to sit and chat. C had a stroke some years ago and sadly often can't find the right words, and his speech is very unclear now. However, L makes up for it and hardly seems to take breath! The food was OK but not brilliant: the kitchen kept running out of various bits like mushrooms and sausages so we had to keep changing our order. It's our turn to choose the location and pay next time, but I don't think we'll be going back to that pub for a while, convenient though it is. How was the one you went to, Fayolle?
I am about to replace the battery in my bathroom scales, and that, plus the usual dailies, will be the sum of my indoor flying today. Sorry, no antimacassars here!
GWS wishes to Valli and any other poorlies, and (((hugs))) to anyone in need. Honey_Bear, your "forgot to click" post appears on the thread just before the one you sent saying that you'd lost one - was there another?
