If you create a hotspot off your phone, does it detect it?
You could try installing Hp support assistant/ HP diagnostic
I don't know if I can create a hotspot on my phone0 -
I googled your machine HP Pavilion G6 - Specs, Tests, and Prices | LaptopMedia.com
it implies you have one sorry about that"Didn't I try to Warn them I said !"

You could pop it open and check the connections: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/HP+Pavilion+g6-1b79dx+Wireless+Card+Replacement/51050
nothing noticeable, thanks0 -
if you have a wifi usb dongle handy, that will work too. I did that whilst i looked for the internal solution."Didn't I try to Warn them I said !"

It would have been windows update that caused your problem, if you identify any updates after your problem occurred you could try uninstalling them and then block the offending update. Lot of faff though, dongle is quicker."Didn't I try to Warn them I said !"

I don't know if I can create a hotspot on my phoneThis vid tells you how to reinstallTry getting the latest wifi driver from HP or intel (or whatever brand if wifi card you got)If reinstalling/ updating drivers does not work, likely a hardware issue, in which case I second pioneer’s suggestion.Get one of these to get you back on. Can be a permanent solution

Edit: One more thing you can try;
Search for Cmd
right click on it and Run As Administrator
enter the following command
netsh winsock reset
hit Enter. If ut says it’s done successfully, reboot the laptop. Try again0 -
