bellsbells wrote: »Hi laurar and welcome. You are added to the first post - what is your target for the year??
I think that if I can pay off at least a £1500 as with my offset that seems to be working out to about £1000 per year in interest as well.
I have paid off as extra this year nearly £400 so I would be pleased with that. Like to have the mortgage paid off by the age of 40 at the moment with the offset its more like 42 but its getting there. I think the sites great and with lots of support, I am sure we will all reach our own goals. xx0 -
Just a quick update, as I haven`t been around here lately. Managed to pay £50 in to mortgage account this month, I know this is not alot, but money becoming alittle tighter as prices are going up and this was what was left. At least this is £50 less off the mortgage. Will let you know bells so you can update my figure on the first page.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41

End of mortgage april 2030
Mortgage overpayment from june 2013 aiming for £400 a month: £451
Emergency fund 2013 from june £700 -
I am going to change tack from paying off lump sums to saving lump sums and see where I get over the next seven months. This is important for me as I have never saved a penny and I think I need to get over it! I'm on an off-set so I it is the same difference in financial terms. If I turn out to have no saving gene I'll just swap back at the end of the year, lesson learned.0

Hi, can I join in? I took out a £90,000 mortgage over 17 years when I bought my house for £249,950 in August 2004. I've been making overpayments whenever I've been able to, and my mortgage is now down to £65,000 (house value around £300,000 now). My present 2-year fixed rate deal with the Halifax (5.75%) expires in December, by which time I'm hoping to have reduced the outstanding amount to £60,000. I'm thinking of taking out a Lifetime Tracker at that point. And then, I hope to pay the mortgage off in the next 7 years.0

To get added to the list you need to send a PM to bellsbells and let her know your target for the year/month or what ever you want to achieve by December 31st.

I have finally arranged to increase my monthly standing order so I have increased it to £850 a month, which will overpay approx £75 a time. I am hoping to make another lump sum overpayment at the end of next month, so will update my totals then. I have now purchased all the furniture and everything I need for my new house, so should have a better idea of my finances soon.
Unfortunately I have a large dental bill coming up after a losing a front tooth on Thursday, so that may change some of my plans. Isn't it always the way!
Even though I don't post on here often I keep up with all the news regularly, so well done all and thanks for your hard work BellsBells and congratulations by the way.Save £12k in 2022 #54 reporting for duty0
