    Hi all

Great news - have got a job starting in September. I'm just finishing training to be a Secondary English teacher and I really am chuffed to bits, if not slightly terrified...

Does anyone know when in the month teachers get paid or does this vary depending on LA?

Also, I keep reading on here that people have done their clicks for today. What does this mean?

    Many thanks

    Courgette

I get paid the last working day of the month, and I work in the West Midlands. It must vary from area to area. Just how many teachers are there on here - there seems to be loads!:rotfl:

    Hi Courgette,

    Congrats!

I'm a teacher and I get paid on the 22nd or before if it is a weekend.
I'm in the midlands, not sure if it varies between LEAs?

Which bit of the Midlands? I am Coventry LEA

    Hi everyone,

We would like to join this post.

We are purchasing a new house and have a new mortgage. We had a starter mortgage of £190K and have already got it down to £180K selling things and paying off things quicker than expected.

Our goal from July 2008 will be paying off at least £5K off our £180K mortgage over the next two years. So I guess that is £1250 approximately every six months!! Ahhh! If we can do more we will! Top tips welcome :-)

welcome sporty - just send me a private message (PM) when you want to do an update!

Hi guys, chuffed yesterday, made an extra overpayment of £335 on top of normal £160 monthly overpayment. And realised we had finally paid off the first £10000 of the original mortgage:j (its taken four years- but its a milestone for us) Got me thinking- how long will it take to pay off another ten grand- three years? two years?

    Hi All

£120 paid off this month and now I'm shifting to saving. I've reached £2200 for the year and would like to get to £7000 so some serious saving is needed. Many congratulations to all the over-payers, people are doing so well.

    Well done tootallulah! :j
Whan you say switching to saving, what do you mean? Do you mean using a high interest saving account then moving the money into mortgage later- or do you mean something else? Always interested in everyone's methods :p

Hi all - haven't been about much lately, things have been hectic here. Good, but busy :) Anyway, due to two weekends away (one with the family and some friends over the May Day Bank Holiday, one just me away with *my* friends for a weekend which was excellent!), and only a couple of Amazon sales, May's overpayment was only £88. Still, brings me up to £800 for the last 4 months.

I've also halved my overdraft since the beginning of the year - that should be paid off by December, and I have to confess that that's more of a personal priority for me than the mortgage!

Anyway, hopefully I am still on course for another £1200 overpayment in the next 7 months. This month I have dd2's birthday, but I've been putting money aside for birthdays, so that should be ok. July might not be a good one for the mortgage though - most of my overpayment money comes from my tutoring, and we're away for 3 weeks in July, although again I have a little bit already put aside for holiday spending, but it's not that much. So no working + holidays = no extra money coming in + extra money going out! I think I'll be doing well to stick to my overdraft reduction that month.
Ali - still pretty much a newbie, need to brush up my MS habits!
