  • hi All

    Have reached my target for 2008 of £120.00
    Going for £250 in 2009 - I'm getting rid of the loan first, but have set up overpayment with Abbey and throwing rest of spare money at loan.

    Have a great Christmas and see you on the 2009 thread

    Don't think I'll have any more cash to OP this year, so...

    December OP = £360
    Total for the year = £6,046

    Reached target :j:j:j:j

    Thank you bellsbells for running this thread and everyone else for contributing, it's been an incredible inspiration :A

    Have just checked my mortgage account and have the final confirmed amount of £89,389 which is below the target I set of £90,000 so I am really pleased.

    Aiming to take off another £20k on the mortgage in 2009 so look forward to joining the challenge with other familiar names.

    Well done to everyone who has overpaid this year.

  • Can't wait for the mortgage overpayment total.

    Well done to everyone who has overpaid this year and good luck for next. No matter how small it still helps to bring down the overall date of being mortgage free - yippee!:j
    When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:

    Me too, Sue! I have a feeling it's going to be a biiiiiiiiiiiiig number!

    Just dropping by to report my last overpayment for 2008 - my December overpayment was £343, which brings my total for the year to £15474.75 :j

    In the excitement of reaching my target early, I think I forgot to report my November payment :o but I have included it in the total.

    Well done to everyone who has made an overpayment :beer: Hope to see you all on the 2009 thread - I'm raring to go!

  • Hi everyone, I haven't posted very often but I have always read the thread for inspiration and to give me a boost when the task looked impossible. I am amazed to say that I have met my £4500 target (I've actually saved £5122.67 to date but some has got to go towards debt repayment!!! At times I wasn't sure if I could but this site does tend to create some rather annoying habits such as:

    1. not bearing to have loose change in my on-line account (ie. *.36) that simply HAS TO be moved to the mortgage payment account;
    2. groaning when a shopkeeper gives me my change in £2 coins cos I know I can't spend them they have to be put in the £2 tin;
    3. having to move "just a little bit of money" into the mortgage account so that I can update the total in my spreadsheet;
    4. fleecing hubbie of his hard-earned commission before he's even managed to check his pay slip.

    I know there is a lot more to be done in order to pay my large mortgage and I kick myself everyday that we were so silly in our early years and wasted so much money and consolidated so regularly - but hey ho, live and learn and what I have learnt will most certainly be passed onto my children.

    So well done everyone and I'll see you on the 2009 site. :T

    Was reading through people's messages and had a sudden urge to sort out my bank accounts and transfer 'challenge-made' money into the mortgage. So another payment of just over £940. It takes a few days for it to actually show up on the mortgage balance but mortgage will then be £88k ish. Challenge for next year is still £20k off this (1 income, 2 adults, 3 children so will be doing this through the challenges set on the various boards).

    Hi All

    I have just made my December payment and the grand total is £3345 against a target of £4000. BUT I saved £2550 against a target of £1000 so I am very happy.

    Next year my push is to get below £140,000 not quite sure how yet but it will be interesting to try. Thanks Bells I'll send you a pm and hope very much that your baby grows out of colic quickly.

    Congratulations and Merry Christmas to all.
