@Gr1pr @Coupon-mad I’m filling out the DQ N180 and two of the questions ask if there are any dates when I won’t be available for mediation or court. The reality is I will be moving abroad permanently from 23 August 2025. I’ve been told to:
-
Say I’m unavailable in person after the 23rd August but willing to attend mediation/hearings remotely.
-
Let the court know I’m still fully engaged.
-
Possibly appoint a solicitor or UK rep.
Does this sound like solid advice?
As long as you tell the court and DCB Legal your new postal address for service then all will be well. As I said, DCB Legal and Euro Car Parks ALWAYS discontinue single PCN cases before hearings.
Unless you are in a Pilot area for decisions without a hearing, e.g. Manchester, Luton, Cardiff? Those decisions are made anyway, but without either party's attendance.
Before you move abroad:Please read this message and do the current Public Consultation:

It's vital the Government hears from people with unfair charges who are facing horrific, scary court claims.
The link shows the two vital points to concentrate on, IMHO:
- banning DRA fee add-ons completely
- making sure a new SINGLE appeals service replaces POPLA and the IAS which are seen as not fully independent and involved in a 'race to the bottom'.
Click through to the main thread about the Consultation, Do not be deterred by the fact that some questions are for the parking industry only.
We are discussing how to respond on the main thread about it. The issues above are the IMPORTANT ones. Personally, mainly because it means the Code will come in quicker (no signs will have to be changed) I have no issue with PCs 'up to £100 cap' AS LONG AS DRA FEES ARE BANNED.
Please join us in doing this Consultation. This is your one chance to make a difference re the proper regulation of private parking.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
