    I'm not certain of anything! All I know is they were due to be delivered to our house, and on that day he informed us they were being delivered to him instead. Our requests for confirmation that this happened have gone unacknowledged.

    Completly different subject (except both relating to landscaping materials and ownership thereof), but worth noting on this other thread that very different responses were provided by the police in relation to what on the face of it seem to be very similar situations.

    Also that removal of property about which there is some dispute as to ownership resulted in a caution for theft for the taker (the first time).

    TL;DR - if there were lingering doubt, don't rely on the police to give correct 'legal' advice when it comes to this kind of civil or contractual dispute.  And don't just take stuff thinking you can because you own it.
