Bins out. WM loaded. Looked at Dubai chocolate in M&S. My Grandma often said some people have more money than sense. M&S were under cyber attack…watched the lights on the self service shopping reader handsets…they were going mad!

Lost track of days this week already.
- lake swim with 2 buddies, one of whom didn't actually swim today but we all went for a C0$ta after as a) lake cafe wasn't open and b) I had a free coke to collect and c) we all wanted a few things from Mr L, which is nearby. That's our excuse anyway. I did pretty well out of the deal as neither buddy had loyalty cards for either place, so I got 3 x C0$ta points and 2x Mr L.
- filled up with petrol on the way home
- sorted out all my assessment answer booklets (which are between £3-£5 new). I've kept just one of each 'just in case' but have packed the others up to pass on to my ex-manager who is doing a refresher course in assessment. She's offered to buy everything off me, but I've decided she can have the manuals and stimulus books but I'll charge her half price for the booklets (about 220 of them so far). This will leave a lot of space in my home office to be repurposed. It will take some thought, as it is geared round the type of filing space I needed so there are 2 hanging-file drawers in my desk and a 7-drawer free-standing unit (with plastic 'baskets' of the type often seen in schools). I need to decide what I now actually want to store in that room.
- went to zumba
- put away yesterday's dry washing
Also ate too much chocolate.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.6 -
Morning all. Wordle in three.
Plan today is to cut grass between shifts as the forecast is dry and the grass is long....
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Strands with no clues, all four lines on Connections with no lives lost and Wordle in five.Forecast is great - two dry days - so I can whack the R0ns3@l on the rest of the sundeck later today at last. That saves me from trying to lever that job in tomorrow when things will be exceptionally busy. House looks surprisingly neat and tidy if you don't look closely. It'll do.Must start packing gibble for seven eight people to eat a meal kind of alfresco tomorrow evening, and go to M&$ to get treats for them. I can cobble together a fair amount on the food front from home using yesterday's Wonky Boxes. I've done a price comparison with Mr M, so neither the top nor the bottom of supermarkets here. The fruit one comes out well, the veg one badly. Will strip the guest's bed when he leaves and the forecast means I can get that bedding out and dry today, so I can remake it for someone else for tomorrow night. The other room is already ready.Must give the shower room the once over when I've driven him to where he needs to be by 11.00am.When things are busy and logistically complicated it helps enormously if the house is organised. I can't thank all Flyladies enough, especially the List Creaters, for getting me to the point where I can say that. I really was surprised this morning by how calm and together the place looks despite the external chaos of this week.Polite people ask me what I do sometimes. I find it very difficult to say - I'm a home-maker dealing with generations of acquistivenss and I'm working on creating a calm and happy house despite that. But that's the reality of what I do, and have been doing for quite some time. The giftaid news yesterday was the cherry on the cake.Better is good enough.4

3 lots of washing on the line. Wallpaper going up in the hall/stairs so moving round the house is...I'll go for challenging.

Morning all
What a week, I have been working 10 hour days trying to catch up after two bank holidays and was in the office for 12.5 hours yesterday (four meetings - two back to back). It will calm down though. Today I am WFH and as I am back in tomorrow I am intending to do as little as possible today.
Flying? To be honest I have seen so little of my house that I don't really know what it looks like!!
Hope the poorlies are on the mend. Bring on the weekend and a bit of a rest xx6 -
Morning all,
MiA yesterday due to painting the skirting and door frames - again. With the correct paint this time. Job done, tick. New blinds arrived last night, so just waiting on the elusive electrician to put in a show, fridge freezer and wm can then finally go back to their rightful places, and the blinds can go up. Then the plan is, like Valli, the hall, stairs and landing. Not looking forward to that disruption.
Today’s vague plan is to visit the allotment for the first time this week, then work on filling the green bin for next week’s collection. That shouldn’t be too much of a stretch, given the jobs that need doing in the garden. At some point, I must run the vacuum cleaner around downstairs…
I like your job description, HB. I am struggling with mine atm, too many years of identifying myself only by my workplace.
I hope things calm down, YL.
GWS wishes to all poorlies and under the weather-lies.
Wm is on, as is the kettle if any one would like to join me for a tea or coffee?5 -
Your job sounds utterly exhausting YL. It's not the first time I've thought that either. Thanks for the comment about decaff coffee - having halved my consumption I'm now sleeping through the night every night, so I believe it. I hope to cut it down even more but I'm taking one day at a time.Superking bed made up all ready for tonight's guest, food rehearsal-packed in the coolbox and bag, and all the other gibble I need is packed ready for the journey later this afternoon. Now to go and deal with the sundeck.Better is good enough.4

Hello folks.
Just dailies, dog walk and paid stuff here today. Wordle in five, connections with one life lost, strands with no hints and letter boxed in five.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
- ophthalmology appointment; they were fairly reassuring after I mentioned how scared I was about various warnings at the 6 months-ago checkup; however today was diagnostics so they will let me know the outcome within 2 weeks.
- walked back to town centre so that was half an hour's worth of brisk steps, pleasantly through cycle paths and woodland. Got a C0sta (decaff); got some bread as I passed Mr A and met Mr N at his gym (he'd dropped me off at the clinic).
- did some drumming practice. Can now do much of Riverboat Song at full speed - whether I'll ever manage the tricky bits that fast is anyone's guess but at least I feel pleased. Tried 2 more of my '5 to practice'.
- checked greenhouse.
- did a find-the-best-price on a Cotswold hotel which our biker friends have nominated for a 2-night break in July. Found one plus TopCashBack at 11%, all being well. Booked it.
- emailed friend to whom I'm hoping to pass on my assessment materials with the list of what I've got.
- went through a whole load of flagged emails and dealt with many, including daring to check my pension pot after the recent share drop; it still has more in it than I put in the first place, thankfully. Downloaded past year's bank statements to set up my spreadsheet from which to do my tax return.
- went to zumba; it is a new class at my gym run by the man who instructs my Wednesday class - great.
Tomorrow I'm going for my lake swim then we're driving down to SIL for an overnight stop including taking her for a birthday meal. On Sunday we will go down to visit primarily my Mum but also meet up with BIL. Overnight at Traveloj.
Have a nice weekend everyone.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.5
