Vinted - Don't waste your time

  • For those of you that sold something on Vinted, how does it work if the buyer doesn't collect their goods? I have an item sold that is apparently waiting to be collected by the buyer ( I sent it by EVRI ) . The money won't be credited to my account until buyer collects and OKs the item. But what happens if they never collect it?

The item is returned to you and when it shows as returned the buyer gets a full refund. So you don’t get the money for,it, but you get the item back so haven’t lost anything.

it can take weeks to get back to you, and I’ve had things show as returned which I’ve never had back, but mostly the system works OK. I also tend to block buyers who waste my time like this.

  • Thanks. I now have 2 items waiting to be collected. It's very disappointing but I'm still very new to Vinted so I will persevere.  If nothing else I have discovered a good place to buy 'new with tags' items at a good price.

I don't sell on Vinted but I do buy.

I've noticed that Inpost say you must collect your parcel within 3 days but Evri/Yodel seem to have up to 10 days.

Ideally, I like to collect on the day it arrives but always by the day after.

    When were the parcels delivered?

I think you can restrict to some postage methods - maybe try deselecting the post - to - locker options?
The downside is you might restrict your potential customers, but it might avoid the frequency of the above if that's more annoying.

Whilst I think Vinted does have some real issues, I personally would be happy if a brand new seller was at the very least questioned and temporarily blocked if the first thing they listed was an Armani jacket.

In part of their T and Cs, which admittedly are not easy to find , they do mention how to list high end items and suggest they might ask for receipts or some other proof of authenticity.

I've done very well on there just selling unwanted items and even bundles of toys once my grandchildren grow out of them. The trick with all these sites is not to do anything that screams 'scammer' and worries the auto bot.
I have just joined in the past few days as I was going through my wardrobe. First things I listed were 3 jackets totalling over £1k. I wasn’t flagged or hindered at all.

I don't think I'd have bid on your items with zero reviews.
I'm not really happy bidding on a £5.00 item on a zero review seller.

I can understand that if I’m honest. I am over 20 sales in now all thanks to the other half telling me to do it. These clothes have been piling up and not used in months. Actually quite enjoying it.

Changing the subject a little , whilst I don’t subscribe to the ‘eBay is dead’ hysteria it does look like Vinted are taking some business from them, something no other similar site has managed before (I have discounted Amazon as their model is different).

just a quick look through various groups and forums I read there are a lot of people either cross listing or moving items to Vinted from eBay and there is even talk of some groups hoping to be able to convince Vinted to have a proper business selling arm. I am looking at the Vinted pro scheme, but at the moment there are a few issues with people switching to pro or running 2 accounts a private and a pro which Vinted allow, and I don’t want to endanger my account if it goes wrong. I also have the issue that pro excludes so many of my catogeries and also limits the amount of new items, so at the moment it wouldn’t work for the majority of my business items, but I would certainly consider moving eligible items across.

I do already know several small businesses that have moved across some of their stock as they sell in the allowed categories, with many others considering doing the same.I’ve even seen in the past week or so, some traditional Etsy sellers who have moved across, one of whom is delighted to have nearly sold all their items, admittedly less than 100 things, in 6 weeks having been trying to sell them on Etsy for over 3 years.

My heart sinks when I see a seller is using Evri. The local Evri pick up point for me is the village post office and they’re closed from 17:30 on weekdays and 12:30 on Saturdays. So at Easter, one seller had to wait to the following Tuesday to get paid. It must be worse for working age people. I can reset the pick up point, but then I have to drive to it. Plus Evri transit is so slow, I’ve seen parcels sit for 48 hours at the sender’s local Evri sorting office.
