Upgrade O2 SIm only via MSE Best O2 SIM

Hello..

Just wondering if anyone else has issue upgrading the O2 SIM through MSE O2 Sim only link?

I tried to upgrade the SIM to a better tariff after the massive annual mobile price hike a few days ago.

When I last done this a few months ago, if I click through the link, I have an option to upgrade by current O2 SIM and it will tell me how much outstanding charges are and then it will just update my O2 account and move me to the new tariff.

I tried that yesterday and today but unfortunately, it will only allow me to take out a new SIM.  I suppose I could still do it by moving my current number to the new number/SIM but that is a lot more hassle.  Or the alternative is to say goodbye to O2.  Things have deteriorated over the years as well.

I have also rang them, now with a foreign call centre which couldn't help.

Or if anyone knows of a workaround?

Thank you.

Was going to suggest upgrade route via Uswitch (I used it at end of March - 32GB £8/mth) but it looks like they've changed the interface. No obvious method to process as an upgrade, I'll have a dig.

Agree that O2's telephone CS are not the finest.....

How about GiffGaff? We moved one of our SIMs to them and no issues at all. GG use the O2 network.

Thanks - so they did just change the interface!
Yes,  like you said, it used to work (I last used it end of 2024).

Tried another couple of resellers and none give access to an upgrade path.

The offered new SIM rates are still a third of the standard O2 PAYM renewal terms. If you were to go down the SIM-swap route then it's the obvious pain/cost of sourcing a sacrificial SIM and praying to the PAC gods (twice).

Same issue here, originally got my O2 SIM (6GB) through Virgin Media for £6 per month, but with their ridiculous price rises over the past couple of years, including the current rise is now just short of £10 per month. Contacted them yesterday via live chat to get a better deal and he tried to upgrade me to a new 12 month SIM only for £21.99 🤣. Then said best he could do was £10 a month for 10GB on a new 12 month contract.

Told him I had another SIM only contact through ID Mobile for 30GB for £7 a month on a 30 day contract, but they just don't seem to get it. Tried the uSwitch workaround to get 32GB for £8, but it doesn't work, so I've just asked for my PAC code and I'll move this SIM to ID Mobile as well. O2 have just lost another customer.

    Thanks.

Yes,  non UK script reading customer service is terrible.  Even MSE's haggling/retention approach doesn't work anymore 😢.

There is one more option to upgrade the SIM via myO2 - I think it was £9.50 or something for 10GB - still not great. Been with O2 for many years so a little relucant to switch but may have to.

Thank you for trying that out. Yes, maybe appealingto PAC Gods is the way.

Please to report that the upgrade interface is now back!  I was presented with:
    (1) Join O2
    (2) Take out additional line
    (3) Upgrade

    Completed upgrade without issue :-)
