No surname issue while buying a property

Hi,
I only have a first name and no surname. My surname field is blank in all my legal documents such as passport, driving license, visa, educational certifications and bank accounts.
I have checked with my Mortgage provider and they have assured me that my name will appear as it is on the passport. I want the registration of the house to be made in the correct name.
My solicitor says she is unable to proceed with many systems as part of property buying with my surname being blank. She has no clue how to proceed with this.
Has anyone faced a similar situation or heard about someone facing a similar situation and how they were able to overcome it?

Goodness me never heard of anyone else doing this, can see the problem for you - is it people from a specific country who just one name and hence no surname in all the documents - if so is there a solicitor somewhere that is more familiar with this? Maybe some just put the same name twice - bit like in the US when they can't cope if you have no middle initial0

You don't mention 'birth certificate' in your list of legal documents. Does that show your surname at birth, and did you then change your name by deed poll?2

I guess it's just the 'computer says no' issue
I would ask them to put the same name in both boxes. You may have to put up with being known to some departments as Zsreech Zsreech0 -
Like a Brazilian footballer? Or McLovin from Superbad :-)2

In the first instance you need to get clarification from the solicitor exactly what problems there are with exactly what systems etc. The Land Registry seem exceptionally flexible in how names are entered with their forms like the TR1 as there are no separate boxes for the different components etc. It maybe they will need to complete some forms outside of their system if its a them problem rather than a wider issue.2 -

Hmmm...yes, pretty sure that both in the SDLT1 form and the AP1 Surname is one of the required fields!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I remember reading many years ago of someone who only had initials. In one form they entered their name as:
First name: R (Only)
Middle name: Z (Only)
Surname: Jones
And, the documents came back with them being named Ronly Zonly Jones. EDIT: This is an urban legend and it was Ronly Bonly Jones.
More on-topic for the thread, I'm sure there's a good chance that if the OP puts something in the Surname box like 'No surname' that they'll get documents back naming 'Zsreech Nosurname'.0 -
