Thanks but it was more than 5% 5%on the commission as well 78 pound extra on 30k lost my custom
You dodged a bullet there then - put your money somewhere else instead, pretty much anywhere else will be cheaper!  What led you to them in the first place?
    Just ordered solar panels
Are you literally saying that on Friday you were unhappy at the commission on a S&S ISA so on Monday you decided instead to buy solar panels with that same £30K?
I think it was £10k, but your question still stands.

OP says £30K in the above quote but did indeed mention £10K earlier in the thread....

Maybe the op decided to go with St James Place and negotiated a refund of some of the "commission".

With good negotiating skills maybe it was enough of a refund to buy the solar panels 😳

Harsh to say the solar panels would provide a better ROI and SJP?

It depends.  The return on solar is often flawed as the replacement of bits of the system is rarely factored in nor is the loss of return had you chosen to invest instead.  it can be more marginal either way depending on the amount spent, type of install etc.

Installed on a south-facing and unshaded roof, and at an achievable price of £1 per watt of panel, your combination of earnings and savings should be in the 15-20p per watt of panel per year.
So payback in 5-7 years and in profit thereafter.
