No worries. Just means you've got to do some paperwork now! What are the particulars of claim?

Go to the newbie sticky, and you will find the template defence. You will be creating one paragraph yourself (number 3). I wouldn't even get into details since they will discontinue. Too difficult for them to prove anything from so long ago, and there is such a blizzard of these old G24 claims there is no money to be made in actually going to hearings.

Just say the landowner has cancelled the ticket in that paragraph.

Have you got the landowner cancellation in writing?

I've attached the redacted form above. I have an email from the landowner saying they've cancelled the ticket on the 27th March 2025.

Study other recent G24 DCB Legal claims on here and follow the same advice as theirs to start with,  mainly regarding paragraphs 2 & 3

An extra paragraph 3.1 can be added stating that in March 2025 the landowner requested the pcn be cancelled and proof will be used in the future Witness Statement

Lastly,  do NOT  complete the AOS online until Wednesday or later this week,  you can see the advice to do this in the second post in the newbies sticky thread in announcements

    So research first, no rushing

Correct,  but not until AFTER 5pm tomorrow,  or ideally in 2 days time

You should study and adapt the advice given in the following thread too

  • Perfect thanks. Will take a couple of days to go through these and draft something up.

Quick update: finally got passed the correct details for the owner of the carpark and they cancelled the ticket. So, a win!
    Errr great...

...but because PPCs wash their hands of cases once passed for bulk litigation, there's a MASSIVE danger that nobody will tell DCB Legal unless you do.

So you MUST still reply to the LBC on or around 15th April and make sure you say you're seeking debt advice and require a 30 day hold. Use the template LBC reply but not until around 15th April and add the proof that the landowner has cancelled this particular PCN.

Unfortunately I've only just seen this and...have received a letter from HM Courts & Tribunal Service stating:

"We are contacting you because someone claims you owe them money, and a money claim has been made against you. You must respond to the claim before the response date on the enclosed form. If you do not do this, the claimant could request a CCJ against you."

    ....help?!

Sadly, you've let a claim happen rather than just emailing DCB Legal when it was cancelled, to close all files. This is admin that should have been done whether I mentioned it or not.

No worries but this is a pain for you.

I mean they will have to cancel it in the end but now you are risking a CCJ and have the headache of having to do a court defence. There is no shortcut now.

Luckily we have the Template Defence.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yep...naively thought they'd handle it and that'd be it - now kicking myself that I didn't check here sooner (weird that I get notifications for being promoted to Forumite but not when someone replies to a post) but, hey ho, we learn.

Gr1pr has kindly mentioned the Template Defence, so will be spending a few days reading up and drafting. Will follow up shortly.

My son got a PCN at Meadowhall Retail Park in 2019. The very helpful coupon mad on here noticed the PCN said 180 minutes stay. G24 have got it wrong. The G24 signs all over the car park at the time stated 240 minutes free parking. The older style signs have since been replaced with newer ones but it's still 240 minutes free parking NOT 180 minutes.

I have full photographic evidence of the old and new signs if you need it. How many people have been paying the 'fine' for a 180+ minutes stay. Barstewards.

Does it say a breach of 180 minutes on your PCN?

    This is the old sign.

    This is the new sign.

Thanks for that! Annoyingly, I had a bit of a spring clean last week and chucked the original letter. I would've thought it was 180 mins. Can I double check that those are from Meadowhall Retail Park on Attercliffe Common and not Meadowhall with the big green dome/hell to go to on Saturdays Meadowhall?

Further to this, i had a look on Google Maps street view from 2018 and it does say 180 mins. Looks like it changed a few years after!

Doesn't matter in your case as the PCN is cancelled, which is the crux of your main paragraph 3 of defence.
