I have just been on the Ph one to the Cognac insurance company and it appears that the rules have changed and they can no longer insure for us they are currently trying to find a solution for their existing customers  so its back to square one
  • Hi I have also been refused by Generali in Cognac ,they are not insuring English vans registered  after 1 July .
English companies will not insure the vans if they do not return to the uk. Mine is stored in France permanently. At the moment.
Has anyone found a solution please ?Thanks.

Hi all. My parents have stored their caravan in France the past decade or so and naturally it has been insured all the time as per storage requirements.

This year, as others are finding, it has been impossible to purchase the required insurance.

They have tried everything you all have posted above, but still cannot find anyone to insure it - in the U.K. or France. French insurers cannot offer the service as the caravan does not have the required ‘carte grise’.

Has anyone managed to solve this conundrum? It’s gonna be a real shame if this ends their summer holidays (aged 79) earlier in their lives than it really should.

Following with interest.  I will have to bring my caravan back to England I suppose.
I asked the question on a caravanning FB group  - one reply was that their storage site are going to try for blanket caravan cover to be included in the storage cost. Researching the possibility.

Good morning, we have just contacted the following company and they are reasonably priced, but do not cover towing, which is ok as we can arrange for the storage company to deliver and collect it. Anglo Agence AXA Quévert

FRANCE - Richard BARNES, 41 Av De L'Aublette, Centre D Affaires De, L'Aublette, 22100 Quevert

    Thank you Percival22.  I’ve contacted them. 🤞🏼

  • We gave the above company that Percival22 posted a try this morning and they don't insure caravans below Department 17.

Anyone else got any ideas how we can get past this?  It is becoming a nightmare.

Did you get any joy? We were told they couldn't insure caravans below Department 17.  We are based in the Landes region and are struggling.
  • This all sounds like trouble.  I actually called into the Cognac agency in May and the ladies were very helpful..I guess come renewal I might have a problem.  What is meant by 'Not below Department 17'?.  A site at Airvault offers storage and gives details of their local broker for insurance.  When I contacted this broker they couldn't help!  Someone out there must have a solution to this problem, please help!
