Card payment - FedEx has goods - won't release them :(

Received FedEx notification for duty / tax payment, in order to clear my goods from UK customs / clearance, for delivery to me.
FedEx payment page will not recognise my UK postcode, therefore I cannot make card payment to them for duty & tax.
My goods are now withheld from me in a clearing house somewhere.
FedEx is doing this, I have been attempting to pay duty, in good faith, for two days now. They will not accept bank transfer or one-to-one card machine payment. They will only accept online payment through their FedEx payment page, which is dysfunctional.
How do I stand, in respect of reclaiming the cost of my goods, if FedEx continue to refuse duty payment, so that I never receive my goods, please?
Please advise.
Thank you.

Today, in some desperation, I opted for PayPal. No-one at FedEx had suggested this. To my amazement, that went through, possibly because the postcode issue does not arise, for FedEx, using PayPal.
I received an automated confirmation of payment from FedEx, however, their tracker still shows the outstanding payment amount. I emailed the confirmation to FedEx asking for an acknowledgement (ie. from a human being), but heard nothing in response. I don't even know where my parcel is being held, it originates in the Netherlands. I am in the UK.
The tracker claims the delivery will be made tomorrow.
Are all couriers like this?
Is it due to the increasing & questionable reliance on AI, I wonder?0 -
I assume you are expecting the parcel and that you are 100% confident you are looking at the FedEx web site (and sending payment there)?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Thanks. The consignment has now been delivered - the FedEx card payment glitch was never resolved - eventually I paid by PayPal.0

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

It would be exceptionally unorthodox for a company not to have at least one debit card for its bank account, if it is the position you've put yourselves in it feels like a rod you've created for your own back0 -

I opted to pay by bank card - the payment was refused because the FedEx page could not recognise the registered post code that my card has always had.
Querying this, I was shunted to AI, which resolved nothing. If AI cannot recognise the problem, it sends you into a loop, it's just a robot.
Chat lines were repaired to, but all they could was to send emails to unknown people further up the FedEx ladder. That resolved nothing either.
In desperation, not wishing to muddy the waters, I turned to PayPal, which worked - because the PP option avoided the post code pit-fall: PayPal already have my post code, no need to keep typing it in.0
