I have applied to AQA and am waiting to hear if I have been accepted. I hope I do as I have worked out by answering Just 15 questions a day can earn me a gross amount of £135 per month (£105 after tax).

That amount extra per month would really make an impact on the mortgage overpayments.

    Just hope I get in.

Good luck with the application - I have also applied.

The plan, should I be successful, is to use it for pure overpayment as it is extra money, rather than adding it to the offset savings which my income is being paid into.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Good luck to you too angela, wonder how long before we hear? Have seen somewhere on AQA thread that you may get refused if they have filled their quota of new recruits and it may not have anyting to do with your answers.

Fingers crossed for us both x

Just got back from first teaching class since Christmas. Its right what they say, once you get the first day over with it feels like you have never been away. Never mind, only 13 weeks till Easter break and two weeks off, February half term is a lousey 2 days this time, I am used to getting a week off.

I will just have to think of the "Candy that comes in handy" till then. (one of my 83 yr old Grandfathers sayings).

2 New classes on the agenda tomorrow, hope there are enough learners turn up for the classes to run, I need at least 10 students or the college will pull the plug! (bums on seats = £££).

Its looking like the extra 8 hours teaching has the green light:j so that should make my teaching income an average of £1000 per month, this is a conservative after tax estimate.

    Still no word from AQA.

Just pondering on the idea of paying all my overpayments into my Barclays account which has a £0 balance at the moment as it was only opened for a mystery shopping assignment. I do have a cheque book for it which means that I could send a cheque off at the end of the month to overpay. I think that it would be much easier for me if I kept things seperate from my main current account.

Got another £140 for book keeping work today so into the mortgage pot it goes. I am quite busy this month due to tax return deadline of 31st January.

Have another 2 hour night class starting tonight. Beef stew for dinner tonight with chips and green beans. Better go and check on it will just have time to eat it with MrJ and YoungJ's before going off to work.

    Its a hard life.

Got a big fat NO THANKS from AQA. Think I will give it another go though in 6 weeks if they are still rectruiting.

Quite a positive week I think

Teaching hours have now grown from 11 to 27 per week until July.

Have over £200 in mortgage overpayment pot and expect at least another £200 by the end of the month for helping with tax returns.

Only negatives this week is that I have been knocked back by AQA and I am already knackered after 1 week back to work.

    Have a good weekend everyone:D

Off to pay my first ever overpayment this morning, I have a cheque to pay into the bank for my Mum and it happens to be the same bank I have my mortgage with, so as I have cash in the house I think I will just go and pay it straight off before I am tempted to "borrow" from it.

I had intended to pay any cash or cheques into my unused Barclays account and send a cheque off near the end of the month and I will in future but I might as well get the ball rolling seeing as though I'm in the bank anyway.

Wonder what it will feel like, actually making that first overpayment?

Will be paying £145 in cash and will send a further cheque off on 20th so it will show on February statement.

    .

Well, how was it for you :D. Did the earth move ;). And how did bank react?

I have an offset account so all is done electronically so I never actually feel I've done anything .

You're doing great, keep it up!
