Will it? Most people that can afford such a car will not be that bothered.Hoenir said:
Therein lies the biggest issue. In the future vehicles with a list price in excess of £50k are only going to appeal to a limit market. The luxury car tax supplement of £425 pa for years 2-6, rising by RPI, is going to dent demand on the second hand market. £620 pa is a considerable cost for a low mileage driver to bear.Topscooby said:Just to add my experience of owning an EV ( Mercedes EQA 250+ ) for six months…

The "luxury car tax" is on vehicles with a list price of £40K+.At the moment, most of us still regard them as "expensive"/"luxury" cars. But, since the tax threshold is not rising with inflation (only the amount you have to pay is
), in a few more years most new cars will be £40k+ and subject to this levy.It hasn't been long since a Dacia Sandero was £6995, now they are £14,200.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I remember. I almost bought one. It probably would have been a sound financial decision as far as cars go. I liked the fact that it had wind up windows and a radio was an optional extra. It would have been a doddle to own as there would be very little to go wrong and no one would want to pinch it or key it.facade said:The "luxury car tax" is on vehicles with a list price of £40K+.At the moment, most of us still regard them as "expensive"/"luxury" cars. But, since the tax threshold is not rising with inflation (only the amount you have to pay is

But when I went to look at one, there were no poverty spec. ones about at the headline price, and they didn't seem very interested in selling me one, no idea when/if they would be able to get any. They had plenty of the expensively blinged up ones strangely enough. As I recall there was a massive jump in price for little more than a wireless, some carpet, shiny paint & Carlos Fandango wheels.
