I've spoken to the the head leaseholder (a large property management group) and they said they'll only issue a document if my landlord requests it. I've asked my landlord for this and so hopefully they get it.0 -
AlphaCentauri said:No, they're definitely the owner of the sub-lease. The problem is I need the paperwork to prove it. Both the head leaseholder and the landlord are not being very forthcoming - why should they help me, right? I've been in the property a long time. The property has a very low EPC rating, which is why the scheme approached me with an offer to upgrade it. Unfortunately, it looks like the work may be blocked.0

I'd write your "landlord" a calm polite letter saying what you've found and asking for clarification.
He could be a crook... He wouldn't be the first by any means ... Quite a common fraud is getting copy of keys somehow then signing up multiple punters and taking rent & deposit....
Real owner might be v grateful
Good luck...0 -

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any other way to access the information other than what I've outlined. Public libraries? There is a trust nearby I can ask.0
