Orientation of new style cards

Is anyone else annoyed about the lack of consistency orientation of the new style debit and credit cards? I have cards with the chip in all possible locations!

To be fair the cards rarely see daylight - all are on my phone.

No, they all still fit in my wallet just fine. What's the problem?2 -
It doesn't bother me at all but I was recently asked on the phone for "the long number across the front of the card" and I confused him by pointing out that my card has the 4 sets of 4 digits arranged above each other on the back of the card. Between us we just about coped though ;p0

I still prefer horizontal cards as that's how most wallets are arranged. At least most of those have a consistently placed cutout for blind people.5

Literally couldn’t care less.2

The wise one looks the best, its easy to see the wise text when it's in a wallet, and when you take it out it's the right way round for putting in chip and pin machine. I'm not sure why they still have chips though, I'd hsve thought that the machine could still ask for a pin when using contactless.0

I prefer the old style cards. But what you have to remember is cards are on the way out, that’s why banks are losing interest. They are cheaply produced now. When you order a new card it is available on the phone instantly. I say by 2030 they won’t send out plastic cards as default unless requested. Although I don’t believe that’s possible yet totally to do.1

The chips are what hold the data that is passed to the contactless pad via the embedded wires/aerials. They have to be visible for chip and pin purposes but could be concealed within the card otherwise but there would still be a chip there.
Personally dont care that much, it's the Amex card that annoys me because the front is metal and the rear is plastic and the contactless only works on most readers if you present the plastic side. Plus when the card expires its a pain to destroy the old card... have to split the two sides from each other.0
