Hope the f*ckwits effect on you has lessened now.
It sounds like all the storage stuff is (understandably) massively stressing you, have as much of a being kind to yourself weekend as possible.
£100 off the loan is brilliant 🥂
Look at those huge shiny reductions in the debt totals 😍2 -
Burger! Seeing that champagne glass emoji has just reminded me that my mate left me a very nice bottle of red wine with a sign on it saying drink me! Thanks for the reminder @PennysIntoPounds, I'll open it with my tea tomorrow, too late now.Debts 04/01/25 01/12/25

What you going to pair it with for your tea?1 -
I'm not sure yet Pip. Eating here is like a magical mystery surprise. The kitchen is huge and the food is plentiful. I'll have a rummage in her freezer and cupboards and find something nice. Cheese will likely be involved in my supper tomorrow.Debts 04/01/25 01/12/25

I’m interested in the job you’re applying for that you don’t really want.A current, comfortable job with about enough money you have now versus a possibly uncomfortable future job you sound like you don’t want? More travel and pressure for a bit extra money and a future cv you may or may not need?I have been there and got this t shirt. Hand over fist I’d opt for the comfort, security, friendships and freedom from stress. We’re conditioned to think we need to move further, faster for more. But experience has taught me slower, simpler, satisfying is by far the best option.Of course I’m not walking in your shoes but maybe it’s good to remind ourselves we’re human beings and not human doings! You go for that job if it’s your calling and I’ll be cheering you on. But maybe stop and smell the roses first. Then decide. X4

Ooh house sit with huge kitchen and plentiful food sounds fabulous! Enjoy your surprise rummage today to enjoy your red wine with, though maybe not leading to a hangover so you don't get the job app done.
Though I also have a similar tshirt to @Slowdown, I ended up moving jobs again with 2 years to this job for slightly less overall.July 2024 £12,150 Nov 2025 B/Card £6,105, V/card £2,881, H'fax £491, IFC £398, Sports Trip £290 Total £10,1652 -
Hey both, you're saying similar things to what I've been thinking, but it's still worth me thinking about. The job is with the same company I'm with now and I've been covering the new role a little bit (only bout 10 hours a month) while they planned for the new role and how it might look. I've been able to do this from home but if I got the job permanently I'd have to do it in person as we move into the next phase of the development. So I'd be travelling (2 to 5 hours driving each way) around 3 to 6 times a month. That's what mostly puts me off as I have animals but I'd probably be able to take the dogs with me at least some of the time. I'd need a dog sitter other times. I've been with the company a little over a year so I know there is some flexibility, within reason. The hours I work and the days I travel will be largely up to me. And it's a new role so there's flexibility to mould it how I like, again within reason. I guess I'm a little nervous though as if a new director comes in or something they could be more strict. There's quite a huge range between this job in the best case scenario and the worst. It is a job I have relevant skills for and I've been working lightly with the teams for 3 months so I think I have a reasonable idea of the personalities involved and where the tricky parts might be.
If I didn't absolutely love my current role I'd have applied already. But if I stay in my current role I have to get a second job. This new role comes with about a 25 to 30% pay rise. I currently pay a consistent 500 a month off my debts, I'd be able to pay around 800 off consistently.
There are a few other things that have been mentioned as a possibility that would make the new role more attractive to me, but they're not in the JD so I can't rely on those happening.
I've also had a lot of jobs where I've been used and stretched to the max and been burnt out, but I also know that some of this is about my own values and my own poor boundaries so I've been working on those. It's a work in progress though.
I'm going to Google maps the sites later, see what the routes are actually like, and whether some visits can be combined. I'm all caught up in the feelings so I need to go back to logic and logistics for a while.Debts 04/01/25 01/12/25

Ok, I've rummaged and I'm thinking lasagne, crusty bread or sliced baguette with salted butter, and olives. Then I'm thinking continue the wine in their very deep free standing bath to make up for my own crap bath last week ☺️PennysIntoPounds said:Nice, enjoy 🥂

I've just had a thought. My mortgage deal runs out next year but my house has gone up in value, so does that mean if I can prove it's gone up I could get a better mortgage deal because it's a lower LTV? Maybe? It's probably worth getting it revalued anyway. I bought it cheap 7 years ago.
ETA Rightmove suggests a 68% increase in value so definitely worth looking into properly next year!Debts 04/01/25 01/12/25

I didn't realise I'd not posted for a few days. I guess there wasn't much to report. It's the week before payday and as usual my pots have all gone askew.
I have enough food to last me until Monday but I might get a ready meal for Friday as I'll be pretty exhausted and don't want to end up getting a takeaway.
My dentist appointment was cancelled on Monday, so I feel as though I've saved £300, but in reality it's just postponed for a few weeks. I might not rearrange it til after December payday though.
One of my biggest weights should be lifted tomorrow, when a relatives storage unit will be mostly emptied. I've been dealing with that in some form for about 4 years. I'll still have a few more tasks to do, packing and shipping some of it, binning some of it, and contacting other relatives about some of it, but the bulk of it will be out of my hands!
If I make it back in time I have the option of a free evening meal out.
On Thursday I have another long day, at a conference. It's one I've been attending and sometimes helping with for almost 20 years so it will be a nice day, just long and tiring. I'm conscious that I've started to feel fully recovered the last few days so I don't want to jeopardise my health too much by having too many busy/tiring days in a row. No plans for the weekend then!
In other news, I have had some talks about the possible new job and got a few things straightened. I've just submitted my application form. Even if I don't get it I will feel like I've made an attempt at increasing my income to deal with my debts.
I'm thinking about taking another day off before Christmas to have another declutter big push and a tip run.
Generally today I have been thinking about/manifesting how much lighter I will feel going into 2026, and how lovely my house will start to look now I've decluttered a decent amount and can start planning some much needed interior work.
