Fab idea. Looking forward to reading the updates to see what’s been ticked off the list!

Well, would you believe it? The first task randomly chosen was number 23 - open the shed door. Quite a relief as I was wondering what I'd do if sorting stuff in the shed came before opening the door 😄
I opened the shed door, walked away in horror, but then went back a bit later and looked again. I removed a bag that was hanging on the door and sorted through the contents, then took out two other small things that were near the doorway.
The next task randomly chosen was spending 10 mins on recycling. Again very handy as it's actually bin night. I usually put out the recycling but there is always other bits that are strewn around the place that I tell myself I'll do next time. I finished all the recycling a few minutes early so I planted some flower seedlings while I was in the front garden.
The third one was the one I really didn't want to do - wiping the conservatory. I put it off til about 8pm then told myself I just had to do it for 10mins, put on a podcast, and got some rags. My tortoise is living in there in the evenings and colder days so there is soil dust everywhere. I've also got loads of seedlings in there that needed to be moved before I could wipe anything down. So annoying. Anyway, I wiped down the shelf and windowsill and the windows that look into the kitchen. I started on the doors to outside but only did one, I was over my ten minutes and couldn't be bothered to move more stuff, so I put the seedlings back in place and decided to add it to the list again to do another 10mins another day.
It's been a busy day as I still had to do the usual weekend jobs and all the chores I hadn't done all week because I was away. The mattress has been stripped and the topper and protector has been washed. I still need to put the bins out and make my bed before I get in it.
The ducklings spent their first day in the big run. On their own though, the others were out in the garden. I might put the old and new ducks together for a bit tomorrow. I'll need to be brave before I put them in with the chickens.
I've eaten well today, I've drunk plenty, and I've done some stretches and light weights. Long may it continue (but probably not because I have issues with routines and repetitions 😂)

Hi,
I love reading your diary and think your 10 minute chores are really worth a try. Like you, I have terrible trouble with routines and repetitions. Any idea why we’re like this? I’d love to know. Even tried to read Atomic Habits and didn’t get as far as picking it up from the library! 😂
Good luck with the ducklings. 🦆

I don't really know @Slowdown but for me it genuinely feels like death 🫣 I can't even eat the same meal twice in a week, I'd have to change it slightly to make it remotely possible. I don't just forget routines, I actively avoid them.
I have a sneaky suspicion it's tied in with my attitude towards authority and anything that feels like being told what I have to do 😂
But, I know myself pretty well by now so I find ways around most things so I can at least function in society and work.
Today's first ten minute task is cleaning the little table by the side of my sofa. I'm generating one task at a time today because yesterday I did the two I didn't mind and put off the one I didn't want to do for hours !
I couldn't log on to the system at work for a while today so did 15 mins pilates 😇

Money is looking tight but not impossible. I started getting annoyed with myself but then remembered I had an extra £300 go out in DD's that got messed up over the bank holiday weekend.
It's my birthday tomorrow and I have an wedding party and anniversary party on the weekend. I think I will be driving and not drinking for all of them so should be relatively cheap. And quite boring. I need to also remember that I had that nice meal out a few weeks ago with my sister, that cost too much, and I said I would count as my birthday meal.
I got a bottle of prosecco in my mid month shop so I can enjoy that over the weekend. Might get myself some nice food for Friday night too.
I didn't do any ten minute tasks yesterday as I slept when I wasn't working. I stopped working by 5pm and refused to do any work in the evening. I needed to rest. I did still manage to eat relatively well and took my supplements all at once before bed. So I haven't completely fallen off track, just didn't do my steps or any exercise, or drink enough water.
I have started the tasks back up today.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow 🎂
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪2 -
Rest that is needed definitely takes priority over tasks.
Anything you can flog/cashout to make some money for birthday weekend? Definitely get yourself some nice food for Friday to go with the prosecco
Happy birthday for tomorrow! 🥂

Sometimes we get to that stage where you have to forget the productivity, the tasks, work stuff and prioritise rest and recuperation. It is too much to just be forever on the hamster wheel I think. Well done for taking the time out, it will benefit you more in the long run.
Happy birthday for tomorrow.

I've just poured myself a sneaky small glass of prosecco as a celebration of.... Finishing my dishes? I dunno 😄
