Obviously we are 'on a different planet' as I manage my finances the way they should be managed. "A borrower nor a lender be" is a good motto to live by. Don't be so hateful because you have gotten yourself in the mess you find yourself in.

There is no need to be hateful about those who are in a mess, either. I too am not in debt and manage my finances well, but at least I can remember that what I have today could well be gone tomorrow - and in the end, we'll all meet the same fate whether we're rich or poor in life - so you - and I - have no place crowing over anyone else for any reason.

Weisskint, I totally agree with you. If that was the Banks intention, it was a pretty silly way of going about things. I doubt that we will ever quite know what happened, but at least it's now sorted, so OP can continue the long road to salvation.
In answer to your last question, I live on a fantasy planet for much of the day, it's far better than Earth. My wife never has a headache, my kids don't only talk to me when they want something, Bristol City have just won the Champions League, and Reality TV doesn't exist. And all Banks have announced a debt amnesty for everyone earning less than £25K a year.

Do you just read the bits you want and ignore the rest?
If that was the banks intention then all they needed to do was to wirte to her giving her a month to find funds, then she could have have had a chance to get sorted.
And we KNOW that they didn't?
Incidentally, I do read all the post AND the bits between the lines. Don't you?
  • You can't read between the lines because there is nothing there, and therefore you have demonstrated yourself that you clearly jump to assumption about people and judge them.

I want to tell you that i wish that you had a life threatening brain haemorrhage and after 8 hours of open brain surgery you found yourself unable to work for six months, and unable to claim benefit because you were the director of your own company, watching your busniness slowly go down the pan, forcing you to get so far into debt that the banks won't even let you have a debit card, let alone any hope of getting a rental agreement.

But i wouldn't wish that on you, because if you really could read between my lines, that is what you would see, and i know how it can take you right to the edge. It takes a small mircale to claw yourself back from a situation like that, and not everyone is lucky enought to get one of those.

Not strictly true as per your post dated 25.11.07....

Student loan, offset by my savings, not that it is any of your business. Considered by most, myself included, as a bit different. What a charmer you are. ;)

    What's so different about it/
A debt is a debt no matter how you look at it or perceive it to be!

LOL! I was expecting that response, but the fact remains you said you had no debt. A student loan is a DEBT.

*shrugs* Different strokes for different folks. If I choose to do as Martin suggests, and off-set my student debt with savings which can be used towards a more demanding debt later on, then I don't view it in quite the same light as a 'standard' debt, but obviously we'll have to agree to disagree.

I do think it's a shame that you have to attempt to discredit my point above by seizing on the least relevant part and seeking a weakness - the point of my previous post of course having been that ultimately we're all going to end up the same way, and no one has a right to judge someone else on their debt - but I'll leave it there for now. Wishing you a very happy and fortuitous New Year. :A

I think it was the most relevant part of your post and you really shouldn't make statements that prove to be otherwise not true.

By the way Happy New Year!
