Maybe a good deal but personally I wouldn't touch Groupon with a bargepole.

I believe they never stop bombarding you with offers for stuff you don't want or need.

So I won't click that link just in case they follow me somehow.

Call me old-fashioned but I'll keep shopping the tried and trusted way.

  • Despite their website (and yours) explaining how to downgrade to classic..... it won't work for those who pay through Apple Store.... its this legal? I have just spent 2 hours live "chatting" to Microsoft and they say because I use this payment method the offer is not available (nor visible after cancelling auto-renew).
The fact is, Office was bundled free when I bought my desktop (Mac) and when they started charging a sub (not happy but obviously it was legally allowed...?), the proposed payment method was Apple Store...so not my fault that's how I pay. Surely a business cannot make an offer only available to those paying via a certain method? or indeed automatically charge for an unwanted product enhancement without offering the chance to stay as you are? I use Excel every day on Desktop for my freelance job, rarely Word and never powerpoint... I have an Excel sub paid E54.99 a year now it seems E89.99...... arghhhh! seems nothing I can do but to rebuy it (it expires 28/02) at the new price - how is this fair or even legal?!!

Have a look at LibreOffice, it's free and is compatible with Excel unless you are running some weird macros or commands.  Vote with your feet and leave Microsoft.  You could also look at Google sheets, they are free and in some ways better than Excel, depending on what you are using it for.

Agree with the above. I'm trying out LibreOffice at present and easy to install and get used to. No significant differences compared to Office 365 yet. Haven't (yet) found the downsides (if any). Got a few months to decide if this is the route I'll take.

Many moon ago I was helping a farming friend to do his RHI application via ' a government website' (can't remember exactly which, sorry) but they did insist on MS Excel as Libre was unable to do 'macro enabled' (I think) spreadsheets!

  • I have tried to access the 365 classic download but although it’s mentioned on their website there’s no where to purchase the licence?

It doesn't help that they posted the tracking links along with it.

Surely there's some sort of catch there ?

Just seems too good to be true - therefore difficult to not to be suspicious.

Microsoft can't possibly be OK with it - so is it even legal ?

Please show some proof that it's genuine and above board.

Ask Groupon about it. I'm not the one selling it.
