A busy, exhausting, draining but fairly productive day after about a rather restless night.
- finished washing, listing and organising the china. Sent photos and the list to the auction house before lunch, so I'm really hoping to get a reply soon.
- some of Mum's clothes through WM.
- Sorted through all Mum's clothes, a real marathon. Kept getting overwhelmed and wanting to stop, but it has to be done so I kept going. There is now an enormous pile for the charity shop; a small suitcase of clothes to take in, get labelled and add to her wardrobe and 2 bags of 'spares', one for summer one winter, to be stored in the shelf above her wardrobe until she needs it. I felt bad consigning so much to the cs without her choosing which she wants, but it would take forever. Especially as I had a phone call today to say she'd had an unwitnessed fall, no harm done, but she will see the doctor tomorrow as a precaution (GP comes to the care home weekly).
- collected all ornaments from around the house, threw out those which were chipped and started a box for the cs.
- started to collect all pictures
- The house now looks like a huge tip! On one chair are items to take to Mum (as well as the 2 suitcases); on another are things for DB and SIL. There are 3 boxes for cs on the lounge floor. The recycling pile in the utility room is growing. The dining room table is covered with groups of china. Her bedroom has the world's largest coathanger collection. I've filled 2 bin bags for non-recyclables and there are boxes for metal recyclable and one for electronic recyclable. So I guess that is progress.........
- After dinner, while half-watching Brokenwood (which I love but have seen that episode several times) I sorted through cutlery and may even have found an antique Russian salt spoon!!
Rang DB and chatted about it all.
That's enough for one day but at least my master list has ticks on it.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
@ionafan - I have a special device that takes my CD into it and then it has a USB port (?) to plug into the computer to play the CD. I think is a called an external CD drive but my box is buried in the living room somewhere. It didn't cost very much. I needed it because I had a lot of things downloaded to CDs including books I was writing and needed to be able to read and transfer them to a new computer.11

but the woman wouldn't give me her address to collect, she thought I was going to rob her, (really) I pointed out how could I collect if I didn't know where I was going to, in the end met her in Mrm's car park!!. got to plant those later on.

Morning all,
Hope today passes in blissful harmony at work, Round.
Narc0, please allow yourself a pat on the back and recognition that you have done fantastically in difficult circumstances. Most / possibly all of us have been there and know how difficult it is. Hugs x
Today being Tuesday Admin day (will have to think of a nattier title!), I have some….admin to do. Bedding stripped and in the wm, hair washed. If I break from adminning (who am I kidding😎), I will set my sights on flying upstairs. Yesterday I cut out some dressmaking, so that’s not a distraction at all… As it actually isn’t raining or foggy, it would be nice to get outside for a walk despite all the mud around here.
Have a good day all x8 -
Morning all, Kids are now at school so time to get myself organised.
My list for today
Attend uni lectures
Do paid stuff
Take the old mattress to the local recycling centre (will drop it off on my way to uni)
Take the dog for a long walk
Move the mattress from the master bed outside as the new bed comes tomorrow and got to make space so will move the bed and sleep on the sofa tonight (take it to the recycling centre if back home in time) Managed to get the mattress to the recycled centre.
Put the base of the bed into the skip
Empty and move the wardrobe from the master bedroom into the kids rooms (we currently have 2 wardrobes in the master bedroom but getting a bigger one and giving the singles to the kids for their clothes). Work in Progress
Move the bookcase into the office as currently in the bedroom
Move furniture around in the master bedroom and need to make space for the new wardrobe Work in Progress
Dust the master bedroom
Hoover the floor in the master bedroom
Do uni prep for tomorrow
Decide on which jigsaws I'm going to hand into the local care home (they were my mum's and I think she would prefer them going to a good home rather than getting binned)
Dust the living room
Hoover the living room floor
I think that is everything that I need to get done today. I hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday.

Morning all.
Narc0, I'm another one who needs some of your drive. I understand that you have deadlines to meet, but don't burn yourself out, please xx
I am still coughing when I start moving around or raising dust - not a good enough excuse to avoid Flying today.
My list, in roughly this order
- check bank balances
- FUPA clean washing from bathroom and utility
- put stew into 2-portion containers, label and play freezer tetris
- WU and clear kitchen table and worktops
- ring the Vicar
- ask DH to strip his bed
- shower and dress [DH jumped into the shower while I was working in the kitchen, as he is off to SW soon]
- email my old school friend R to arrange a chatty phonecall
- pay family history society subs
- order an external CD reader - thanks weenancy x - and probably a new external hard drive too, as most of my older photos are currently on an ancient one which is slow and memory-poor
- empty bins
- dust and hoover downstairs
- update church website with forthcoming events
- make up DH's bed with fresh bedding
- make an early lunch
- be ready with a list of jobs for J the gardener this afternoon
- drive my car gingerly approx 3.5 miles to the repair shop before the schools' rush hour starts, at no more than 20mph and with hazard flashers on, followed by DH in his car: they don't know when they will be able to replace the broken shock absorber and its pair, but will order the parts and do it asap
- cook tea early so that DH can go to model railway club
- start sorting boxes of slides9 -
morning all
marmalade oranges sliced; ready to add sugar but i haven’t got any. Just waiting on a delivery.
DW emptied
ETA
I have gone off list and am almost at the end of cleaning the bathroom….possibly to level 4. Walls have beeen dusted, but the most shocking thing was the window frame. I keep the window ajar permanently and I got the step stool and climbed up and looked…it was thick with dust. So the bucket of water which i intended to use for everything had to be changed after i had brushed, then mopped, the frame. I took a photo but am too ashamed to share. Plug holes have had a brush shoved down, twisted and rat tails extracted.
I now plan to get down on the floor and properly mop/scrub grout in floor tiles. Just revving myself up to it.
