Window cleaner caught me out. I am dressed! But there's no cash in the house 🙈. Luckily he knows I'll put the cash through his letter box later in the week. I've written myself a note to remind myself.

The box in the kitchen is empty. Fly spray, toilet cleaner, mildew and mould remover, and shoe cleaning brushes are in the cupboard. Pumice stone on a stick? is in the bin.

I'll give the box a wash and then use it to stash DS's trophies ready for him to take home.

I wonder what's coming out of the Ottoman of Doom today? 🤔

OoD = A denim shoulder bag, smaller than last week's one, the zip isn't working so will try fixing/replacing it with velcro.  If not, in the municiple clothes recycling bin it goes 😮

Slinks in and says hello for 2025

Every year I try and fail to get on top of the cleaning. Please make 2025 the year I crack the problem. Shouldn't be so difficult, there's only 2 of us and a cat and I'm retired. OH still works so it's down to me to keep the house clean and organised.

I've just washed the kitchen, dining room and bathroom/loo x 3 floors. Waiting on the kitchen floor drying so I can reach the sink for fresh water to clean the lobby and sunroom floors. If I've got the mop out, I may as well do all of them. It's been a very loooong time since any of them were done.  I've been unwell since Christmas but feeling a lot better now. The kitchen and dining room weren't too bad considering. The bathrooms were filthy. I'm struggling keeping the ensuite clean as the basin popup plug leaks and I can't get a replacement washer, so as a consequence has got very grubby. Will have to get in there with water in a bucket. I'm annoyed as I did get this under control last year (one of the few things I managed).

Will descale the kettle today too, easier when OH is on his day in London.

Morning all…waves to Slinky 👋
Thank you for the lists, Natty and Valli. As I cleaned the oven last week, I am feeling particularly virtuous to start off this week 😇. As per the list, I have dusted and vacuumed the DR and the kitchen. Worktops are pretty clear. Recycling bins have been collected and brought back in. 

DD came home last night en route for a look round somewhere that I guess could be a source of employment in the future if she is lucky / wants it. She is taking herself back to the uni city straight after. A fleeting visit. We were all tripping over each other this morning - a snapshot of how things might be come this summer…eek.
Chicken and pastry is out of the freezer to make a chicken pie for tea. I might even run to making a cake for the tin. Or I might not, given that I snuck on 0.5lb last week. DD was very helpful in relieving the freezer of some of the hm ready meals that I had stashed for her. All part of the freezer declutter plan. Next job - get a small Mr M delivery booked for later in the week.
Oh and DH’s terrible, terrible manflu seems to have…..disappeared overnight. See, it is always best that I just ignore him, it would drag on if he got sympathy 🤣

Plan to visit Mr Al has been abandoned as P & S informed me that roadworks are causing long tailbacks into and out of town. So I nipped to the village C00p and just bought essentials for this week's pack ups.

P & S have taken my broken wash basket containing my old leaky kettle and an ancient scanner to the tip for me. Fer- lingggg

Kitchen floor washed, Wren walked, shrapnel counted, weighed and bagged for banking.  Not sure what else I've achieved.  

I'd go up to the attic and chuck linen and bedding down (I hope almost all of it will be going) but I'm not sure where the smaller cat is, and I need her to be shut in somewhere before I get the ladder down because if she got up there we'd never see her again.  Now that she's had lunch she's gone to ground somewhere.

I didn't get out for coffee with a friend today as I had been coughing badly earlier.  Of course the coughing has cleared up in the 4 hours since we cancelled - but then I am sitting down in a steady, clean atmosphere and not trying to talk and eat at the same time.   I still haven't done the hoovering or dusting, though I made a pretty good job of tidying up the kitchen after breakfast, including washing the roasting tin and SC dish that had soaked overnight.

Meanwhile I have been going through a shoebox full of CD-ROMs, binning all the ones that are just rescue disks or drive disks dated around 2000, for old computer equipment that I no longer have - that's about a third of them gone.  I've put the rest in date order, but they are all from much rest later than the point that I've reached so far in my photo sorting, so they can go back in the box for now.  I need to get them all transferred to an external hard drive before I change my PC.  My computer man tells me that nobody makes PCs with built in hard drives any more, so CD-ROMs are obsolete.

Better go and find some lunch.  My tummy is rumbling!

Haven't flown as much as I intended.  We went to the farm shop, then a nice long walk.  I'll catch up on bits here & there.

Evening. Just relaxing now that DGD2 has gone home.  We had a lovely day with lots of activities but didn't go dancing as my back is still playing up.

 I'm on here to give my excuses in advance for not flying tomorrow.  DH has a day off so we're planning to play board games.
