HSBC UK New app

It looks like HSBC UK have updated their banking app. It looks similar to the Santander one now. There wasn’t really much of a mention anywhere about this. What are your views on it?

Why does a banking app need wallpaper at the top? Always have to scroll down to see all options. Why can't you remove the chat box? Wasting valuable screen space on those and pushing their investment and insurance services. It's buggy with the home page account values not updating after transfers and frequently thinks its gone offline. Some useful features such as balance forecast have been pushed lowered down or to secondary menus. And returning from secondary screens takes you back to home page, not the screen you came from.Being able to hide inactive accounts is useful.Glad they didn't put cards on the home screen like Santander, but kept it on a separate menu.Still can't be used to manage foreign currency accounts, only Global Money account. Still no access to InvestDirect service.I said all this during Beta testing, it's an evolution, it's not revolutionary.2

Looks like a phased roll-out. I am still on the old version1

I just noticed an email in my junk folder. I forgot that I was invited to try it out. My mind went completely blank
so far not had much of a play but it gave me Santander vibes. The old app seems robust and stable but this one feels a bit more clunky like the new Santander one.

The good news is that you can still provide feedback and raise issues in the HSBC Community..
@DavidT67 lists some of the feedback that beta testers have raised. I hope HSBC address some of these before a wider rollout.
They have said they do plan some changes such as to the wallpaper mentioned above.1 -

I had the beta so had it for a while and really like it. Using it seems very intuitive and everything is where I'd expect it to be. Definitely feels like the Santander app with some similarities between the two.2

Thanks for the screenshots. It looks ok. Reminds me a bit of the old HSBC app before it was split to HSBC UK.2

A new update has been released today, version 3.54, which has taken onboard some of the feedback on the January release. Expect it to be rolled out in phases during February.
