Dark load of washing all hung up, light load in.

I found the boots, gave them a quick clean and located a perfectly sized ex-Amazon box to post them in. Quickly turned the box inside out, taped up and popped it next to the front door ready for posting tomorrow. ✅

Next stop, job application! …Laptop fired up, advert found, covering letter template open, just got started creating all the section headings and …dd2 requires my attention. She was cleaning the guinea pigs out and noticed one piggles nails were long so could I clip them while she cleans them out. Well I couldn’t exactly say no could I? So, application paused to have a 10 minute cuddle with piggles, trying to distract one piggle with kale (courteous of Olio), whilst trimming the nails of the other one then vice versa. They are very obliging bless them. All done, happy piggles now popcorning around in their fresh new cage 🥰, and I have totally lost my train of thought re the application. 😕 I can see this is going to turn into one of those last minute uni-coursework type affairs.

So, since I am distracted anyway, I decided to hang up the light load and go grab a shower. I mean, if I am going to procrastinate, I might as well do something useful with the time right?!

How did the application go? I would also rather play with guinea pigs than write applications, and keeping their nails short is a good thing, and besides, job applications will never greet you with a 'Week! Week!' or help you eat up the Olio greens. However, I hope you got to a point where you you'd done what you needed to.

I am very impressed with your clever cat, and also clever you for finding the missing piece and sorting out the system. Being warm enough is good for productivity as well as TGN.

I did do a lot more thinking around the application and key words to include but sadly did not come up with a full draft yesterday. I did however go back and double check the closing date - I have until midnight tomorrow.

I do have to take dd2 shopping this evening and I need to buy dog food, but other than that, this evening will be busy application writing. I have also got some time this afternoon so I should have something drafted by this evening. 🤞

This morning has been very productive work-wise, but still 95% meetings. Lunch is a cheesy flatbread courtesy of Olio. 😋

I did nip out and post the boots though so that will be a few pounds coming in towards my £’s goal soon. 😁

  • I hope I am not speaking out of turn here, but have you considered a Debt Management Plan with one of the debt charities?

Lots off useful advice on how to go about it in the other part of the det free wannabe section. It could make your life a lot easier.

I believe the advice is to stop paying all non-priority debts and wait for then to default.During that wait time build up an emergency fund. This is important as you will not be able to access any credit facilities.

When debts have been defaulted begin the DMP. Waiting for all of then to default can take some time. After 6 years the defaults will disappear from your credit file. You may even be able to negotiate some reduced full and final settlement offers some way down the line.

If you have a mortgage fixed rate coming to an end you can renew with your current provider without any credit checks.

I am far from an expert in such things but thought I would mention it.

Have you put in any complaints for irresponsible lending? Just another possible avenue towards easing the burden.

Please ignore if I have been inappropriate with this suggestion.

Thanks @[Deleted User] I have considered a DMP but as I have explained previously in more detail, that is not an option I am choosing as I need to move house in the next couple of years and will need to be able to get a new mortgage.

I won’t go over the detail again but suffice to say my focus currently is on paying the debt down the old fashioned way.

    Thanks anyway. 🙂

Well I have an application first draft (mainly thanks to CoPilot 😬), but I am tired now so I am going to chill a bit, have an early night and start early tomorrow. My brain works better in the morning. 😴

Application in! 🎉 13 pages of cover letter, 4 pages of CV and a whole 2hours to spare. Could I have polished it a bit more, yes, was it likely to be the difference between getting an interview and not, highly unlikely. I am too tired now to worry about getting it perfect and I have work tomorrow. Plus the dogs are going stir crazy with the lack of attention today.

I tend to keep the pups separate while I am working (which isn’t much of an issue during the day as they mostly just sleep between my break times), but being at my desk all evening too means they haven’t had a chance to play with each other either. If it wasn’t for the fact that ‘Little dog’ is due to come into season any day now I might have let them play in the living room together whilst I worked on my application, but no way was I going to leave brother and sister together unsupervised when neither of them has been done! Now though, full on crazy wrestling and butt tucking around my living room has commenced! ‘Big dog’ did get all sniffy to start with but ‘Little dog’ firmly told him no to any of that business - she was far more interested in running laps and playing tug of war with one of my towels. 👍

Sensible dd2 took one look at the coiled spring of ‘Little dog’ speedily running parkor on and off the furniture and decided to retreat to upstairs. 🤣 Usually I would actively discourage such behaviour from the dogs but it is too late to be taking them out and it is hardly their fault that they are so full of energy so late at night. The one-off isn’t the end of the world - normal service will resume tomorrow.
