Lunch has ended up being two pots of prepared petit pois/green bean/cabbage mixes, followed by a couple of oat and raisin cookies (the girls didn’t want them! 😱).
I’ve placed the order for all the guinea pig hay and cat food from Morrisons and can’t quite decide if that means I have broken my no spend rule today or not. Whilst I have placed the order today, the charge wont happen until the shopping arrives so which day am I actually spending? 🤔
It’s all essential purchases and within budget so I guess it doesn’t really matter, but I like getting to the end of the day and being able to feel like I’ve spent nothing. I am thinking that since I clicked to order it today then in effect I have made a purchase today?End ofDec-24Aug-25Brother 5,400.00 7,950.00 Overdraft owed 1,349.90 0.00 MBNA CC 10,534.20 11,531.06 Barclaycard CC 9,667.21 9,771.80 Fluid CC 0.00 809.75 NatWest CC 12,018.14 11,814.72 Aqua 0.00 1,147.94

Wonderful Olio haul - I end up playing 'what would I have from that?'!
Regarding the supermarket order, you could look at it one of two ways - yes, you placed the order today so you could count that as spending, but on the other hand it won't leave your account till the day you receive it, and it's possible some item might not be available in which case it will change the total.
I think you could count it as either.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Well I have to say I am pretty impressed at just how much of the Olio haul has already been used up! We decided to defer the roast until tomorrow so we could focus on the items going out of date. After my earlier very random meals I was craving something a bit more sensible, so I opted for the spaghetti bolognaise microwave meal (which was very yummy). dd2 opted for the free range steak burgers on bread rolls, adding her own ‘plastic’ cheese and some ketchup - happy days! The dogs had scrambled eggs with tenderstem broccoli on top of their reduced kibble, and the guineas also had broccoli (we have lots), as well as their usual ‘good night’ carrot. I still have more baguettes than I know what to do with and zero space in the freezer, so I suspect the dogs will have to help with that tomorrow. Having labradors definitely helps! 🤣End ofDec-24Aug-25

Thanks for the baguette suggestions. I haven’t had enough time to use any of them this time around but I will defo make a note for next time. 👍
The reason for the lack of time is I discovered I only had two days left to sit that exam again. I paid the £38 to rebook it for this evening and arranged to sit it at my brother’s house this evening. In an attempt to ensure I the tech works this time around, I took all four laptops from my house to his last night and one by one we went through trying to find one that would work. Sadly, despite being there until 10pm, we still could not get as far as confirming one as ready! Despite only booking the exam at 2:30pm yesterday we had access issues. We are hoping that it is all because of the maintenance they were apparently doing and arranged for me to work from his house tomorrow so we have extra time after work to resolve it before my exam. We ruled out three of the four laptops for various reasons so I am really hoping the last one works! 🤞End ofDec-24Aug-25Brother 5,400.00 7,950.00 Overdraft owed 1,349.90 0.00 MBNA CC 10,534.20 11,531.06 Barclaycard CC 9,667.21 9,771.80 Fluid CC 0.00 809.75 NatWest CC 12,018.14 11,814.72 Aqua 0.00 1,147.94

Well, exam finally completed and passed subject to invigilation. The whole process was so insanely stressful I literally came home and cried over dd2. 😭
My brother is brilliant bless him, but even he was still trying to get the thing to work with an hour to spare. After uninstalling basically every safety feature he has ever added to the machine, and providing a wired connection to his super fast business level internet, it finally let me get as far as the proctor (who then remoted on and messed with a whole host of other settings on my machine)! She was obsessed with thinking there was a microphone under my desk and told me off for covering my face with my hand during the exam (I was literally just thinking and did it unconsciously). Then with about 10minutes to spare I could suddenly hear my brother’s roommate from downstairs and panicked and just hit the end exam button because I thought they might think I was being given the answers. The preliminary result is that I passed by one mark. I am not sure when it gets confirmed but either way I am never doing it again. It just is not worth the stress.
Bed time now for some much needed sleep. 😴End ofDec-24Aug-25Brother 5,400.00 7,950.00 Overdraft owed 1,349.90 0.00 MBNA CC 10,534.20 11,531.06 Barclaycard CC 9,667.21 9,771.80 Fluid CC 0.00 809.75 NatWest CC 12,018.14 11,814.72 Aqua 0.00 1,147.94
