This could be the first move in a new career!
My hair is long and I cut it myself. I cut DH's too, though he doesn't have so much. Most of the time it's okay, though I'm not sure my first attempt was anything like as good as your DD's!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thats actually so lovely. As you have wavy hair it looks gorgeous like you have layers (she may actually have given you layers). Hair salons are soooooooo expensive now so it really is a luxury to go. I bet it feels great and will be easier to wash and style tooEatingBeans said:A before and after pic… (Not styled just washed and left to air dry)

That's great. A really good job and no money spent.
How's the room move going?1 -
As for the room swop, that is well under way. We have reached the point where there is not a single room in the house that isn’t currently complete chaos. 😬 The lack of moving boxes has meant Plan A went out the window and we spent yesterday taking things from one room to another and then something from that room to the next room. We used carrier bags and laundry baskets as recepticals and then just poured into draws. 😱 Honestly, every room will need a complete reorganisation once we have finished. It’s like the house has been ransacked! But! The good news is we have managed to move faster than first thought and I would say we are half way there. We gave up at 9pm and dd2 went and flopped straight into bed. I was knackered after having climbed the stairs so many times I felt like my heart was going to explode and I sat down on the landing feeling so dizzy I was going to be sick (dd2 brought me an emergency bucket bless her). I thought I had been pacing myself but obviously not enough. Lesson learned for today. We’ve agreed to restart at 10am so I just have time for a quick breckie and let the dogs out for half an hour before we start. The dogs were so good yesterday bless them. I don’t like them in their crate during the day but I don’t know why I worry because they often go nap in them anyway given the choice. Whilst Big Dog was busy in the garden we moved the crates into the living room yesterday (to avoid him freaking out at the moving process). The only problem we encountered was they both wanted to claim the same crate. I stayed up in the evening once dd2 had gone to bed just to let them out for a bit to stretch their legs and Little Dog just took the opportunity to open Big Dog’s and go to sleep in there! 🤦♀️ All Big Dog wanted to do was bring a chew toy and chew it whilst cuddling on my lap. Yes, I do let him despite his size. We even have a command for it so that I get one dog at a time (otherwise they literally squabble over who can squish me more)! 🤣 Now it’s part of our morning routine that each dog gets a dedicated bit of lap time they seem to compete less for the attention. They still both want fusses from everyone obviously (the are Labradors after all), but they seem more content to wait their turn which is good given the size of them! I never had a competition issue with any of my other labs so I am not sure if it’s because they are different sexes and both still entire, or maybe it’s just part of their inherited natures as working labs, but we resolved it anyway.Anyway, I must stop rambling and go get ready for round 2 of the house move. With a bit of luck we should all be sleeping in our new rooms this evening! 🤞End ofSep-25Oct-25

She's done a really lovely job of your hair cut - and it looks as though you have really nice hair anyway! I think you should keep this new hairdresser you've found!
Please do pace yourself today - plan some sitting down time for yourself and the DDs. Better to take a couple of hours longer over the rearrangement than to set yourself back with exhaustion. That applies to all of you.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! It’s been a bit of an up and down one in our house. Despite really cracking on with the big house shuffle we still ran out of time to be properly all sorted by the end of Christmas Eve. I decided to just accept that my bedroom would remain unsorted and focused on the living room and kitchen so we had somewhere to ‘do’ Christmas, and most of Christmas day was indeed lovely. We actually had an agreed schedule of activities (the girl’s idea not mine), for instance we spent over two hours together just making gingerbread houses…
It was really lovely.Sadly, the mood somewhat shifted in the evening as we discovered that one of our beloved guinea pigs had become ill. Less than 48 hours earlier it had been hoping around as happy as could be demanding his daily carrot, but after noticing he had been a bit quiet the evening before, and then him not coming out to say goodnight on Christmas day, I thought best to get him out and give him a good look over. He was clearly not well but still eating and drinking at that point, and it being Christmas day I decided an emergency vet trip for a 5year old guinea pig was not really in anyones interest (5yrs is the average lifespan of guinea pigs although I have had one previously that made it to aged 12). Sadly, he rapidly went down hill on Boxing day and it became very apparent that he was not going to make it regardless of any vet intervention. So, I regularly offered him food and water via syringe, kept him as comfortable as I could and set a deadline of 24hours for everyone to say goodbye. If he was still with us at that point I would take him to the vets to be pts. I think it was the right call as he only made it another 12 hours and instead of his final hours being taken somewhere unfamiliar, he instead passed in his sleep with his brother cuddled up beside him. Now I know he was just a guinea pig, but my god I cried. I hadn’t realised how attached I had become with him being next to my desk in my bedroom, always chatting away to me while I worked, and complaining if I came to bed late.Between the sobbing, dd2 and I tucked him up for his final sleep and buried him under our Amelanchier (aka our memory tree) in the garden. Some might think I get rather too attached, but it is just who I am. Big or small, they all seem to winkle into my heart, and this little guy was no different. RIP Little Piggle

So sorry about piggle but, if you've got to go, it sounds a damn fine way to go

Oh I'm so sorry about your guinea. I had the same decision to make once and he slipped away in his own hutch with his friend nearby. I felt that was better than putting him through a journey, as he was declining naturally. You are right, they are such personalities and those voices become part of the sounds of home.
The gingerbread houses are works of art. What a talented crew you are!

@EatingBeans so sorry about the piglet. Our pets are part of us and you gave him a very kind send-off. I've heard that when the time comes, our pets escort us across the rainbow bridge. Then there are no more tears or partings. Love Humdinger xx2
