I bodged a ‘garland’ this year out of some old Christmas lights & tinsel that had been unused for a long time. Just wrapped the lights around the tinsel garland. It looks quite festive when lit - didn’t know if that might be an idea for your window possibly? Put mine on the stair handrail and another bit along a picture rail.

I am super happy to report that no pennies were spent in the fixing of the decorations! I dug through our box of extra lights and found a set of battery operated lights that were just the right colour and length. Then I very carefully set about dismantling the snowman to see if I could replace the lights within it without too much damage and I’ve only gone and done it! 🎉 I am ridiculously proud of such a small achievement, but all is now reassembled and back up in its pride of place in the window. Better yet, since the replacement lights are battery operated there are now no cables for little dog to get tangled in! 😁 Woop, woop!End ofSep-25Oct-25

Oh I'm so pleased! Your snowman lives another year! Maybe lots of years, now you know what to do. Well done for making the effort.

Yep, I thought exactly the same. Now I know how to replace the lights in it, the snowman will be kept until the plastic finally gives out. I am so pleased. Not something I usually would say about a piece of random plastic but it’s obviously the sentimental value not really because I like plastic snowmen! Haha
I am sad to report dd1 is not doing too well. She’s now developed the same pain on the other side so is convinced she has PCOS and will be left to just suffer pain and infertility for life. She has also caught a cold so is feeling thoroughly sorry for herself. I can’t see how they can possibly leave her in this much pain without intervention but then my face hurts and I remember that it is entirely possible to just be left to suffer. Trying to stay positive for the both of us is hard work atm. But! dd2 and I have at least started the room swop process. Technically our three day plan doesn’t start until Sunday once dd1’s bf goes home after his last sleep over, but dd2 is itching to make a start. So, whilst dd2 can’t move until dd1 does, she has instead helped me move some of my stuff into her room. This is good news for me because it means at least some of my stuff doesn’t have to be moved twice and it spreads out the trips climbing the stairs.
I know climbing the stairs doesn’t sound like such a big deal but our stairs are particularly steep and thanks to our high ceilings they are also that bit longer than modern stairs. Even when I was well and we were moving in with the help of my brother the stairs meant we had to spread the moving over a week. I vowed at the time that if I ever moved out I would pay someone to move us. have moved house repeatedly over my life and never once considered this before but in this house it feels like a necessity (The only other option would be to bring things downstairs over the course of a few weeks beforehand). So anyway, dd2 did most of the trips up and down the stairs with my stuff, I just sorted and carried stuff about on the flat. It didn’t seem like we did a lot but dd2 and I were throughly pooped by the end of it so I was glad we’d at least done some early. At this rate I can see us still moving stuff on Christmas Eve!End ofSep-25Oct-25Brother 7,800.00 7,650.00 Overdraft owed 0.00 0.00 MBNA CC 11,481.53 11,504.06 Barclaycard CC 9,662.17 9,558.10 Fluid CC 1,046.44 1,036.29 NatWest CC 11,705.36 11,693.03 Aqua 1,127.94 1,107.94

The old adage never leave a room empty handed should be adapted for your house - never go up or down the stairs empty handed 😆

I hope you are able to take advantage of some of the good supermarkets offers this week.
Today Tesco had bags of potatoes and other veg for 15p.
Other good news for you today with the small cut in interest base rate .
Keep going as much as you are able on Olio etc. sometimes a lot of surplus food around just before Christmas.
Hoping you get good news re the leaving package soon .
Good luck with the removal/ swap room etc3 -
Oh, that's awful for DD1. I hope she soon feels better.
L1dl has a selection of veg for 5p... what veg are available varies between supermarkets (I read that Morries are doing free wonky carrots) but if you get a chance to avail yourself of the offers you will at least have happy guinea pigs. There are lots of articles which you may already have seen online about what's on offer and where.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Today’s money saving challenge was letting dd2 cut my hair! Being 17yrs old and having never cut hair before I think she did an amazing job. Very brave too as my hair is super long thanks to the TN stopping me going to an actual hairdresser for over a year. Look how much she cut off bless her!
