The suggestion for batch cooking is an excellent one, also TGTG bags. Really don't think you're doing anyone any favours having MDs....they are ultra processed rubbish, doing more harm than good.

Yeah, I do already batch cook and freeze meals. I actually have some in the freeze right now. For me I currently have lots of meals on hand, but dd2 eats a far more restricted diet and she currently has very little to hand. I do need to encourage her to keep some lasagne in the freezer because that’s an easy go-to for her.
Oh and in case anyone doesn’t know - cooked rice freezes amazingly well. I have it in blocks and then just reheat it in the microwave. 😋End ofSep-25Oct-25Brother 7,800.00 7,650.00 Overdraft owed 0.00 0.00 MBNA CC 11,481.53 11,504.06 Barclaycard CC 9,662.17 9,558.10 Fluid CC 1,046.44 1,036.29 NatWest CC 11,705.36 11,693.03 Aqua 1,127.94 1,107.94

Hi I would employ your daughter to do some batch cooking for you both, then if she finds an empty fridge she will NOT find an empty freezer. Think what could have been made with the £20. Also you are trying to fix your past, your daughter hasn't gone short and neither are you now. Good luck V x8

So today is roast day. It has always been agreed that I buy the roast stuff for all of us and for the past few months I’ve paid dd2 to cook it as part of the jobs she does each week. Somehow I forgot to buy potatoes, and as I still wasn’t up to going shopping today, plus I had run out of dog food, I asked dd1 to pop into Tesco on her way home. That led to a bit of a delay on starting the roast, so dd2 decided to cook some single portions of lasagna so she could freeze them. Zero prompting from me needed!dd1 was so sweet that she also bought the dogs a toy each, and dd2 and I some chocolate. She then came in and eyed-up a lasagna which was fresh and yummy, and just sitting there calling her name! Bless her, turns out she’d not had much sleep last night and had been so busy she’d not properly eaten all day. She was also off out to the cinema this evening so would miss the roast. So as a thank you (and really to in some way pay her back for getting us treats), I bought one of the lasagna portions from dd2 to give to dd1. 🤣 It was at this moment that I both loved and hated the fact that dd2 is studying business and has learnt to haggle! That’s another £2.50 taken out of my £50. 😬
In terms of £5’s, today has been better than yesterday, though still pretty low on the effort put in from me. I did list and sell a thing though! Plus the £16.88 came in from the ebay sale a few days ago. 😁 That’s already over £100 cash in so far this month!

Just read back over a few posts and wanted to say that I really don’t find comments like this in bold particularly helpful or supportive. Everyone has their own vices, takeaways happens to be mine. I don’t drink, smoke or gamble, I am currently struggling with my health issues (depression being one of them), and at the same time I am trying to lose weight and pay down a significant amount of debt at the same time.Makingabobor2 said:The suggestion for batch cooking is an excellent one, also TGTG bags. Hope you feel better today.Yes, I like to treat my daughters in ways I never got to know as a child, but you know what, this is MY story, for all its ups and downs. I am not telling anyone that they should live their life my way, and don’t appreciate snide comments wrapped up in a s*** sandwich format like this just to make it seem more palatable. You are doing amazing and do not feel you have to justify anything to anyone, if you and your daughter want a takeaway then you have one. Debt busting is hard enough without depriving ourselves of everything and on those bad days we all need a pick me up. I find some comments on these diaries judgemental and unnecessary.
Carry on doing you 🙃5 -
Had no intention of upsetting you, was merely offering my opinion. I wish you luck in your debt busting journey & will unsubscribe from your diary. XMaking the debt go down and savings go up
