Argh, I just want to go to bed now and wake up tomorrow without a headache! 😞 It’s funny how my face routinely hurts way worse than a headache and yet I can power through that pain to some extent, (until I can’t and then I become a wreck). But give me just a good old fashioned headache and I really struggle. I suspect what I have is actually a migraine (my brain fails to work very well when I have migraine and I often can’t tell the difference until it has passed), but whatever it is, it sure as hell hurts! (The feeling sick and aversion to light is making me think migraine btw).Anyway, enough moaning, I wanted to update on today’s DFW progress. It has been another good day!I had another eBay sale - for £13.94 this time - and thankfully they managed to pay before I had been to post the other two items so I was able to post them all together. 🎉
Somehow I mustered up the energy to complete some Prolific surveys, and sold my shopping data to YouGov for a few extra points. Now I am tracking effort I feel obliged to actually have something to show at the end of the day - it is definitely working! The end result was a total effort for today of £39.86, aka almost 8 £5’s, and a cash in total of £22.73, aka 4 £5’s. 😁

Excellent day's work, and what a good idea to track it. I'm about to cash out just over £13 from P/fc, so not a bad day in the end. Have you ever had your eyes tested to see if glasses with the blue light reflector would help your headaches at all? Sometimes looking at screens for too long can trigger these things.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Not a bad shout - I do spend an awful lot of my time staring at screens! Though tbh I rarely get headaches these days - I used to get migraines all the time - it’s just that when I do get them, I am pretty incapacitated by them. I suspect the trigger this time is actually the change in weather. It will pass, as most things do.I do need to think about making a pot for new glasses though. The opticians has just sent me a letter that my eye test is due but tbh my glasses have been wrong since the day they last prescribed them! At one point I did go back to the opticians to double check if it was expected for me to not be able to read with them on and the lady on the desk just suggested it was my age! I mean I do know eyes change with age and it is common to need varifocals etc., but it was very convenient how my eyes supposedly got so much worse literally from the day I got new glasses! 🙄 I had so much stuff going on at the time that I didn’t pursue it any further and just got used to taking them off to read. It does get quite annoying as a laptop screen at normal distance is just a bit too far away to read without glasses and just a bit too close to read with my glasses, but I’ve managed thus far so I can manage a bit longer. I just need to create a pot for it. 🙂End ofSep-25Oct-25

I've just got new glasses and am also having teething problems with them (excuse the mixed metaphor) - however, it's highlighted that I'd long since outgrown the old prescription. If you're spending a lot pf time on screens, have a chat with them about that. My 'computer glasses' save a lot of eye strain.
Brilliant income boosting today by the way. That's actually more than four and a half £5es.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

If you have an Asda optician near you it might be worth having a look at their glasses as they are much cheaper than independents or the big ones like She*savers or Vi*sion E*press. Someone I know got 3 pairs for £105 - 2 varifocals and a pair of reading glasses.

Thanks for the suggestion @joedenise going to ASDA for glasses is not something I have ever considered - I’ll try and remember to give them a go when it comes to it. In all honesty it is not really my priority atm - I need to save some money first.I used to put money away each month for the likes of glasses, teeth, car and house bits etc but that is all on hold until I can get as much debt as I can back onto 0%. I am very nearly at the point of NatWest allowing BT’s again and this is key to my strategy. They don’t need to offer my 0% deals - they never do - I just need to drop the balance to less than 95% utilised + £100 and then I can use the no fee BT option they always give me to bounce debt on and off their card and back onto 0% on MBNA. That should free up a bit extra to kick the debt snowball and give it a bit of momentum, at which point I can go back to saving money in pots for things. 🤞End ofSep-25Oct-25

Woke up this morning to take dd2 to her Parkrun volunteering only to get all ready then be told it has been cancelled because of the impending storm! I looked out the window to the glorious blue sky and sunshine and thought, “what storm?” 🤔 Handily, since dd2 had already also reached the point of being fully dressed, boots and all, I had something up my sleeve that would make the whole thing worth it. Knowing that she still wasn’t feeling great but that she was going to volunteer at Parkrun anyway, I had been onto Olio last night and arranged to pick up some donuts after dropping her off, so I could give them to her when she finished. Now, as she was standing there all dressed up with nowhere to go, I could give her a yummy purpose to leave the house, and off we went to fetch the donuts! 😋 Even better, my dearest FWH had been kind enough to leave two packs of donuts and some batches, so it was decided (by dd2) that we would have the donuts for breakfast and lunch, and two batches each for dinner! 🤦♀️ Now normally at this point I would come out with a lecture on healthy eating, but hey, it’s Olio day, things are looking a bit empty, and I don’t want to go shopping until after we’ve picked up from Olio and worked out what are meal plan will be for the week. So donuts for breakfast it is! 🤣

The problem is if you suddenly need dental treatment or something and you have no savings pot for it, you have to end up putting it on credit. That is what stressed me so much back in the day.Making the debt go down and savings go up
