Its a payment  of £168 a month which I will make somehow, it says will take just over 19yrs, I will be nearly retirement age (am 47 in a few months time!) but hopefully will be able to pay this off a lot sooner.
Me too! Almost the same amount and age. I took the attitude that life changes over time, so I'm just going to survive the current situation even if it barely touches the debt total. It won't go for 19 years. They'll take a deal long before then.

What I learned is that you can get debt advice, but still decide to walk away and do it your own way. I am in the "wait for defaults" period, not paying, the money building up and gaining a bit of control. Later on, I can write to those creditors and pay £1 a month. Then I will knock out the smallest card with all spare cash, then move to debt number 2. And so on. You don't have to share it out fairly on a dmp if you do it yourself. And you decide how much you can afford.

I know this has been long and waffly, but they say creditors are understanding if you can't afford more, they will give you another six months then come back later to see if your situation has changed. I'd also hate for you to lose your own house sale money on debts you might not have to pay. Again that thread is huge, but in there, most people cut those debts down by a quarter or a half. It just needs patience. We are girl mums, we've got patience! xx
