kaz - he has holiday insurance but I'm not sure how far it goes. Though I'm told that he's said he doesn't want to be flown home. He's paid for his holiday and he's having it! That's my Pops. At what stage he said this I don't know - apparently the hospital wanted to keep him in last week when he asked for meds and he declined and went back to the hotel. Then collapsed in the hotel yesterday. He's given Babs strict instructions not to contact me or DB. So Babs told her son and having a rough idea where DB lived he drove over and knocked on DB's door. They have now exchanged phone numbers! What a carry on. And breathe....
First load is ready for an extra spin. I've taken the emptied laundry hamper back upstairs. And I'm having a coffee while the pots soak.
Thank you again.

I have cleaned the wood burner - you forget how much dust they generate until you really start to do detail clearing. Cleaned the glass too as I found a few of the expensive colour changing pine cones, pointless using them if I can't see the flames. No stove blacking polish left so I have added it to my list. I need to restock the logs etc before I hoover. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

*Healing vibes* for Mr Pops. I hope he manages to continue his holiday as planned and is discharged before anyone flies out, unless they really want a Spanish break too.Sorry about the sofa MMM. What a bu**er.Halfway through Strands, all four lines on Connections and haven't started Wordle yet.I woke up early enough but physically I'm really, really tired. I was hefting stuff about in the attic Thursday and yesterday on top of a very bad night's sleep on Wednesday so the tiredness is to be expected but it's frustrating nonetheless. I probably won't be decluttering the spare bedding and towels up there today. I know exactly where they are and what I want to save but there's a lot that can go. Just not today.I do have to make the first batch or Seville Orange Marmalade because that's already on a 24 hour soak, and Belovéd wants to buy a keyboard from G**tree so we're off to Okehampton. Wren can have a 10 minutes walk on Dartmoor on the way up, we can have lunch in Okehampton, get the keyboard, Wren gets another walk elsewhere on Dartmoor on the way back (and I know exactly where the two walks will be) and then buy four haggis(es), at M&S in north Plymouth for next weekend's Burn's Night.Back to decluttering tomorrow. If I'm still tired it's back into the stationery cupboard. It's only had a cursory pass so there's bound to be stuff lurking in there that I don't need or want.Thank you all so much for your continued encouragement. I know I could be doing this on Mrs Salad Dodger's 2025 decluttering thread but I feel at home here. Anyone who's posting on both - good on you. Whatever works.Better is good enough.7

GWS wishes and prayers for Pops and extra stress reduction vibes for Babs as well as for you, round, and your DB xxxx
I hope you can sort the sofa problem, MMM x
I haven't flown today because I had a 2-hour rail journey to visit a friend and her DD, spent 2.5 hours with them, and then had another 2-hour journey home. I managed to declutter ££ for a very good lunch for us all, together with a bag full of various useful bits and books that I had been keeping for them, as well as the tin of biscuits I won in the raffle last Saturday night, so the top of the c-o-d in my bedroom is now almost clear again (just a plant, a clock, and a couple of family photos that I intend to leave there).
Somehow my step count today has exceeded 10,000 !!! We did walk quite a long way through the town to get to the park.
One major problem has arisen - a horrible expensive-sounding rattling somewhere under the bonnet of my car. I had driven about 200yds from home when I realised that the rattle was getting louder, so I turned round, drove back home and took DH's car to the station instead. I can't complain as my car is almost 12 years old and I have had to pay out very little for maintenance in the 9 years that I have owned it. I shall phone DS1 tomorrow for advice.

Sending Pops GWS vibes from Dizzyland.
I have done nothing today except tidy the kitchen and snooze. This is my first Saturday off in 3 months! What a waste of a day...5 -
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you all.
I remain in awe of the collective power of my flylady friends. You've done it again! All those posivibes winged their way to Pops in Spain and we went from 'prepare yourself for the worst' at 8am to 'they're talking about letting him out on Tuesday' at 8pm. If that's not a flylady miracle I don't know what is!!
Thank you 😘
Babs' DS and my DB are still flying out (separately) this week to support Babs. Neither of them are in the best of health - I've advised my brother not to breathe while he's on the plane! Germy things!! - so hopefully a week in the warm will do them both good.
And breathe.....
From a flying point of view I'm with HB in that I know my current endeavours are maybe better suited to the Decluttering thread, but I feel at home here. Safe. And you already know, and seem to accept, my 'otherness'. So with your permission I'm staying here. Plus decluttering makes flying (a) possible and (b) easier.
Brew 2 is required. Then I'll be back with a plan.
Love to all. Mahoosive squishy love.

Oh goodness hope things are improving Round. How awful that he's so far away, sending love to you and the family xx
Narco with 84 year old parents I can picture myself in your shoes, it must be so hard. I have nothing useful to say except that I hope this gets easier xx
And all this talk of decluttering has got me thinking. I have a built in cupboard in our bedroom that is mostly filled with stuff I never use, but I am struggling to tackle it. Maybe I need to just do one box and one shelf at a time. The things in this cupboard are all exclusively mine and I have a lot of guilt about stuff I spent money on on the past and don't use.
I need to catch up on the flying today, not sure what else. DS1 rang me last night grumbling about his GF and her lack of interest in keeping their house clean and tidy, a bit of a recurring theme. I am trying not to get emotionally involved in all this.
Have a good Sunday all x
